Re: MTech II suspension advice please
Strange, on closer inspection it looks as though the original springs have been left on the back, they are still fairly clean and black in colour - the 190mm long rears are greyish/white, appear brand new and match the colour of the front springs. Maybe the previous owner decided the fronts only sho...

MTech II suspension advice please
I want to use my 90/04 build 325is MTech as a daily driver, it's been summer driven only for the five years I have owned it and I want to have fun all year round! I want to revert back to the factory suspension. It was imported to Canada from Japan just before I got it and it had been lowered, previ...

91' MTech cylinder head with casting ID 2.7 ETA
My MTech cylinder head has a casting ID on it indicating 2.7 ETA.
As far as I know my M20 is a regular 325i displacing 2.5 lt. Is this normal to have this cylinder head ?

I think there's two types, both the same size. One for vehicles with a/c and one not. I think this was the case when I was looking to get a replacement.

I think it's the same story as the E34 - battery is under the back seat on most except very early models. Here's a plan - open the boot with the key, that should be no problem. Then open either the clip for the boot interior light or the centre brake light (if it has one) which is located in the boo...

E34 535i question - battery discharging
My E30 is all wrapped up in the garage for winter and my other weekend driver will get used more now. Has anybody ever experienced a very slow battery drain on an E34 from the odo' & trip meter digital readout staying powered up when the key is removed from the ignition and the car is all locked up?...

This thread was very useful for me. I intend to replace my inner sound proofing on my 325iS MTec as the foam is showing its age and slowly turning into powder. I called my dealer for the original foam 3 pc (Can$100) and also the M3 one piece which they have (Can$200). I wondered if the M3 one piece ...

Anyone know brake disc TIR limits?
Does anyone know the maximum recommended TIR specs' for disc brakes? Local dealer has skimmed the wife's front discs from her Toyota Matrix and she tells me there's some vibration now. I have checked the TIR and found 0.006" drivers side and 0.003" passenger side. Can't find anything firm on Google ...

Could be related - I had an 97' E39 523i and if you started it from cold and moved it a short distance then shut it down it done the same. Engine would get flooded so if you came to start it up it would just whirr over without firing up. Best left alone for a while for the juice to evaporate and the...

Re: M20 water pumps
Not sure if it's "OEM". I looked at another online parts supplier and they list the GRAF pump and the LASO pump. If you buy from a dealer you will get an "OEM" part but it will most likely be one of these brands. Maybe one of these is the real OEM and the other is a copy? I don't believe Bosch make ...

Re: M20 water pumps
I bought a complete cambelt & waterpump kit from FCP Groton down in the US and the water pump is made by GRAF. Says its made in Italy and it has p/n 1151.9.070.759 - 1151.1.719.836 on it.
Says it's suitable for E30 & E34 M20 from 10/87 - 91.
Hope this helps.

Re: Query IRO Autobox dipstick
Great, thanks for the advice, it got me sorted. I knew I was in the right place but I had not come across this type of retaining device, simple really if I had examined the "pointer" on top of the cap.
Thanks again.

Query IRO Autobox dipstick
Maybe a bit daft but here goes.... My 91 325iS Auto has a long pipe next to the bulkhead which I beieve is the auto box dipstick but it has a black plastic round cap on it. To get to dip the gearbox oil & check colour, condition etc, how the hell do I get the dipstick out? I have tried unscrewing th...

Found & checked the front sensors, getting just over 1k ohms on them so now I guess I had better start looking elsewhere for my problem.
Any immidiate ideas before I start digging into the previous posts for possibilities?
Thanks, Neil.

Reminds me a little of BC Canada Quite right. Thanks Brian. Located these two connectors & got just over 1k ohms each so my rears are good. I guess the front sensors also have the same type of connection plug which I seem to recall seeing on each side of the engine bay. Same check here and then let's see if I find a duff one. BTW when I looked ...

Something to look for when you get your rims back after refurb' is to scrape off the powder spray from the inner spigot centre where the wheel locates on the hub - go in @ 4mm. The whole rim gets a thick coat of powder coating and if this is not removed from the bore where it locates on your hub it ...
