You could have a weekend toy with no pressure to keep it on the road. I know lots do, but it's not an option for me. I actually got very close to buying a TR6 a couple of years ago, though, until I realised a couple of things......... 1) I don't have space to keep another car. Most of the household...

The E46 is staying bog-standard and as soon as I think it's getting long-in-the-tooth it's getting replaced. I'm done with running older cars as dailys.

Re:
It can't be that bad! Depends on your interpretation of "bad". I've thrown in excess of £6k at that car in the last 4 years, including a full engine rebuild and a £2.5k respray - at which point the only things that let the car down were car park dings. Structurally, the car was solid. Within 2 year...

It was intermittant, but getting more frequent. I thought, at the time, it might have been the chip but as I had a spare ECU with a suitable chip in I just used that. I never got 'round to swapping the chips to test the one in the ECU that went tits-up. When I lobbed the ECU it still had the chip in.

Ed, I had something similar. See here I was convinced it was the ICV, but it turned-out to be the ECU. After I changed the ECU it never missed a beat until I scrapped it 9 months later. IIRC it was a 172 ECU - don't know now, though, I binned it.

I ended-up not going. Watching my E30 items ending on eBay seemed more appealing, given how cold the breeze was.

I might rock up and have a mooch around, if i get a spare half an hour this afternoon. I thought about joining-up a few years ago, but the neighbour who told me about it said he thought they wouldn't allow the E30 so I never bothered following it up. Too late now, they definitely wouldn't want the E...

I removed some more stuff from mine. Not much left now, just the LPG, engine, towbar, steering wheel and Scorpion. The remains should be getting weighed-in in a couple of weeks.

I've got some bell-end who won't take no for an answer wanting the skirts off my touring because he's too f*****g lazy (or too tight-fisted) to get a set off eBay. How do the clips on the bottom come off, please? Not necessarally true. 205/55x15 are getting thin on the ground, especially in "better" makes, and 205/50x16 are not much dearer.joeyb wrote:my head says 15's for cheaper tyres lol

There's a clue in the stamp. It's a Raid 'wheel. I had one in my e30 for a while. The cover in the centre was an option. Agree with everything said here. For that kind of money I'd want a comprehensive ad, a car that's 100% original, and on a Sport I'd want to see it with all the plastics off before I part with my hard-earned.

I paid £96 for Pagid front discs and pads for my touring from ECP, so I'd say your £75 for M3 stuff is good.ImysE30 wrote:CarPartsForLess have got front discs and pads for £75, Pagid make. Seems like a good price?
As for will they handle 300bhp, I can't say. But they handle 170 OK.

The flywheel on my 2.7 is very light. I've never weighed it, but when I bought the engine it was alledged to be 5.6kg. Since then it's been faced, so is probably nearer 5.5kg. IIRC, this is about as light as an M20 flywheel should go. The idle is fine (850-ish on the rev-counter), if very slightly l...

My M20 has develpoed a 3k(ish) rev limit under load. At the same time as this happens, the rev counter needle and econometer needle jump all over their respective guages.
I'm thinking TPS. Any other suggestions??
