Re:
Doesn't need a second strap - just the one you have cleaned up and refitting. The brown/orange wire that's burning is the earth connection for the oil level sensor, which (bad design) also connects to the aluminium body of the sensor. If the earth strap fails, the starter current follows this paral...

Starter only just turning and brown/orange burning out
Gents, My 320i has been fine all morning, started a few times with no effort. Now the starter suddenly seems like it has bugger all power. Turns over once slowly then stops, battery is new and fine. Also when cranking there was some smoke from a brown/orange wire in the loom coming out of the bulkhe...

Damn it,Theo325 wrote:I can't tell you for sure as I don't have pair to compare - I did notice on my unit that it is marked 'L' on the lip where the glass joins the backing.
Mine has 'R' on it
if anyone can confirm this is in fact an off side unit it would be great,
Thanks
Theo325, cheers for the help.

Re: Bosch numbvers for headlamp units
I have a knackered nearside dipped beam here, there are various numbers on it 1 305 210 001, 1 305 600 033, 047403R8 and 7R017403. Why do you want the Bosch numbers? I'm sure you know this already, but they are handed (i.e. the left is different to the right) Want to confirm i have the correct item...

Re: Tappy M20, oil error ?
I would double check the oil, Mine is the same never warms up until either i hit traffic or i do a at least 10 miles. I know the oil would be a little more viscous at this low temperature but not that different. Had the car been running long? if the engine was could then some expansion could change ...

Re: Steering wobble
Agree with the above, wheel balance is a common cause, i have this problem a few weeks back where some ice had frozen on the inside of my rim. Knocked it off and it was fine again, but above 50ish it was bone rattling!

Bosch numbvers for headlamp units
Hi Guys,
Does anyone have the Bosch numbers for any of the headlamp parts.
Early projector lights on a facelift 320i.
Looking at the dip beam unit only.

Re: Fitting PAS to a manual steering car.
I think manual steering racks sit a bit more forward than pas steering rack. There are two sets of locating holes for the steering racks. Put the pas steering rack in the holes that are further back on the sub frame. Oh Ok, i will try and take a look. The difference in the lengths for the linkage l...

Fitting PAS to a manual steering car.
Hi Guys. I have fitted PAS to my Manual steering car and i've just remembered when i did this i used the original linkage from the end of the steering column to the rack. Unfortunately the rubber in the joint has broken. I have just obtained a linkage from a PAS 320i and it is about half the length ...

Re:
My thoughts exactly.A four door 316i/318i/320i is a different kind of E30 to a 2 door 325i. At the end of the day, lots of them were sold new so there will be buyers for them. Not everyone who likes the E30 is into them for 120 mph or lowering springs.
