Re:
I reckon I have it Turbo-Brown.... Buckling loads, even though there is thrusting which could cause bending poerpendicular to the shaft, buckling will occur in the direction of least stiffness, so it is important to have a very similar 2nd moment of area in both xx and yy directions, H beam does, I ...

Re: H beam con-rods
If you then compare the flanges in the other bending axis (Iyy) you will see that it has around 50 times the stiffness, now admittedly that is not all that useful, as Yani quite rightly pointed out, most of the stress is applied in the bending perpendicular to the crank. Perhaps if I wasn't trying t...

Re: H beam con-rods
Your problem is you forgot to square the distance(from the neutral axis) in your I-beam calculations... had you done that you obtain a value for Ixx of around 1.8^-8 ie the two beams have the same stiffness

Re: V8 ebay listing HELP PLEASE!!!
It will fit, and will give a nice power increase and will sound good too, but if you did the conversion you'd regret not putting the 4l or 4.4l engine in (which have the same size block and I think use the same gearbox)

Re: S14 vs N47
It seems that the N47 has more average HP accross it´s rev range, that WILL outrun a car with a S14 if the average power is lower, especially if they are in a identical shell. it´s just simple math, It's actually not that simple.... if the S14 is only using 4500rpm-7500rpm then you only use the...

Re: S14 vs N47
Ha ha good luck! Come find me when you are done ill endevour to prove your theories very wrong! Just to put it in context on the road a stock s14 is as quick as a 130i now you go figure ;) It seems that the N47 has more average HP accross it´s rev range, that WILL outrun a car with a S14 if the a...

Re: Immobiliser/alarm problem
Don't have the details of PO any more sadly otherwise I would've contacted him regarding it.
There was no sounding of an alarm and I haven't been able to identify a siren anywhere

Immobiliser/alarm problem
Ok so my battery went flat the other day because I was an idiot and left the lights on, but it seems like the old immobiliser/alarm that was fitted by one of the POs has armed and doesn't want to disarm (which I don't have any remotes etc or any information about the alarm) when I got into the car I...

m20b25 won't start
I own a 1989 325i which won't start.... it started last night and then cut out. I have been unable to start it since. There is fuel though I haven't validated that it's making it to the injectors, I have checked all the leads to the coil and spark plug. I've previously had no troubles with the car, ...
