Re: turbocharging an "e" motor...
Im probably gonna buy a 325i engine and build the whole thing while its on a stand....and a turbo-system. This will probably take a good 1 or 2 to complete the whole car but it will be so worth it. Im thinking...solid bottom end, 666 turbo adapter, t3/t4 turbo setup, megasquirt, 666 intake manifold,...

Re: turbocharging an "e" motor...
How do you think it would do if i left the "e" head internals in it and just turbocharged that, a smaller turbo (internal wastegate)...megasquirt and the other supporting mods and just rev to like 5-5500?

Re: "i" motor swap...
its a 1987 325e but the original motor went out so they replaced it with a new "es" motor....or thats what i was told.
I should be able to find a 325i around here somewhere....might be able to find one in a J/Y around here and just use it as a parts car to do the swap.

So what i need to know now is...
What are some common m20 engine start problems?
And also do you guys think it would be better to try the swap or just find a 325i and buy it?

Re: "i" motor swap...
We don't have the 325e over here, but it's a M20 engine, same as the i, so just should be a straight swap, along with the complete engine loom and ECU. Now a question for you! Your cars have a "check engine light" on the dash - the one that blinks fault codes when you stomp on the accelerator pedal...

Ok...i own a 1987 325e with an es motor....what i wanna do is swap over to an "i" engine and everything.
My questions:
What all do i need?
How hard is this gonna be?
Can i use the same transmission?
