Re: Shoud I get these parts from Main Dealer or EuroCar-part

I'd only get the waterpump genuine, ECP's top brand on Belt / Tensioner Kit is Conti or if you prefer SKF/Gates belt kits. Viscous will be Sachs. Very important to specify that you want the best branded stuff as they carry cheap copies of the most common parts. Personally I find it very hard to beli...

M42 Blue Temp Sensor

Just wanted to clarify that the Blue coolant Temp Sender is the front-most one (next to cyl 1). Mine certainly doesn't look too blue any more.

Looks like I should be able to swap it without taking the inlet manifold off - or is that just wishful thinking?

I've had too many near misses with the same thing - turning right in a roundabout from the left lane. On my old commute in in a fairly rural area in Ireland they upgraded many of the junctions to roundabouts. I used to see at least 1 smash a week due to the same problem - I think the country folk ha...

Good to see the usual e30 owner spirit alive and well
More like the recently made unemployed spirit! Right now I need to be legal and mobile - The end.

Are you really sure you can't spend an extra £17.44?

Prices I quoted are fitted - usually around another tenner a wheel no?

Looking at http://www.blackcircles.com for what's in my range - I reckon I'm gonna be a total gyp and buy mega budget 205/55R15 - £194.44 for 4 over Toyo Proxes T1-R 195/55 R15 V (85) £215.04 for four. So it's time to finally put some rubber on the Hartge rims that have been kicking around the spare room for a while. Unfortunately times are tight so I was wondering if anyone has experience of running 195/55R15 instead of the usual 205/55R15? For a start, do they fit OK? and secondly will handling ...

Re: Rusty Sunroof Tray

the new tray comes with a brace from side to side which should be removed before fitting as removing the old one from the roof would create quite a mess so its best left.

Cheers Beardymat - I'll pass on the knowledge. Ordered a new tray today so should be sorted by the end of the week.

As for diff and Gearbox oil I think the link I gave above also has spec and volume info. better check the detail but I think most people recommend ATF for gearbox (even though it's a manual) and IIRC 80-90W Hypoid Gear Oil for an open diff.

You'll need to get it out past the acc pedal too - i undid the pedal from the lever and slid the carpet over since the bracket holding the pedal to the floor as a bit rotten and would never have gone back on.

Mine was the same . Be careful running the car like that as there is a fire risk, or so I'm told. A mate ran a 5 series with the same problem and the engine went up in flames. Changed mine the day after hearing that story. Rocker cover gasket set will only be buttons and take 5 mins to change.

Re: w@nky bastard Euro car parts fool!

The ECP website is pretty good
It hasn't been updated in about 3 years. Not really a problem for E30s since most parts will not have had any design changes since the data was put in the website. I wouldn't use it for any later vehicles tho.

It's also only a small selection of the parts on offer.
