Re: DME Repair

You would be better off looking for the earlier and better 0 261 200 173 ECU, which is identical in operation but doesn't have the troublesome extra diodes. Or a 172, from a 2.0 litre, which may be cheaper and have greater availability, plus one of your 2.5 chips. Are these all interchangable? Wasn...

Also, did the garage check the DME relay? That is switched by the ignition and feeds power to the ECU.

I did ask, yes they did, it seems to be an injection control issue

DME Repair

Hi

Garage has diagnosed DME failure, fuel pump and relay both deemed fine

I've looked for spares on ebay ((my car is a 325i with a Motortronic 1.3) and posted in the wanted section but there appear to be a few companies offering repairs - wondered if anyone else had tried this?

Cheers
Phil

Re: 325 question

Cheers for the responses, i think the buying a sport and removing stuff is not the way to go as i may well get hunted down (understandably) by some owners on here :D Is there a buying guide on here somewhere? I own a couple of dubs (Ok 5) so prefer the understated look and always wanted an E30. Thin...

325 question

I'm hankering after and E30, want it to be a 325i and a 2dr. However, they all seem to be autos and/or with the sport kit neither of which I like. How common are 325i 2drs without the sport kit and how hard would it be to remove the sport kit and make it into "standard" e30. Relative noob so be nice...

Re: 318is vs 320i

There seem to be a better slelction of 318is out there - have yet to find a 325 2dr for under 1k (although happy to be flamed and corrected :D )

Still tempted by tourings but I don't need all the extra space.

318is vs 320i

Whats the best, performance wise. I've only ever driven a 320 (and it was a while ago) Ideally I'm looking for a circa £1k 325 coupe - without the M-Tec kit but I see so many more Is and 320 models that I'm starting to consider them instead Whats everyone's opinions. I don't do many miles (bike pr...

Diesel swap??

Has anyone done this into an E30?

Recently saw a Corrado witht he 150bhp TDi lump in and thought switching in the 2.0 diesel from and modern 3 series would be a bit different.

Bet the electrics area minefield though
