Re: Removing ABS
That's the million dollar question. I think a good place to start would be rally design. As for length, I don't know you'll have to measure up then add a bit, plus fittings. As far as I remember it cost about £180 to do my old pug 205 for hoses and fittings (not inc bias valve, ebay is the way), s...

Re: Removing ABS
Yes, run the braided hose through the bulkhead and fit something like a tilton screw type bias valve next to the handbrake. You can always just use hard pipe to save money but braided is always best

Re: Removing ABS
If you're planning on changing brakes anyway, why not just run braided hose direct from the master cylinder and use a bias valve. That should be a better solution than having all that ABS gubbins left in there.

This car actually looks genuinely surprised! How on earth do you manage that! Some crackers here, good thing I wasn't drinking tea at the time or it would be down my front.riklusby wrote:![]()

Re:
I think it's the large bore headers and turbo near double the size of std that cause the lag :D Although there is something seriously wrong with it.. I drove it into a chevy suburban :( More to the point was that the 325 cost half as much as just the turbo on that car, and is just as much fun, if no...

Not a WR, but certainly not standard
It currently lives in a garage slightly worse for wear now though. Bit of a project.

Re: Simple one - 325i valve lash
The clearance is there to ensure that, even after a service/check interval of wear, the valves will still close fully and seal on their seats. Noisy tappets will be noticed and get checked whereas a poorly seated valve (especially on the exhaust side) may not be apparent until it has melted and des...

That seems to make sense. I'll stick with that description.MrDazzle wrote:As far as I've seen/used the term, 'Clearance' is for bits that never touch (i.e. that are meant to clear each other) and lash is for slack/play/etc. between bits that do.

Re:
Well, picked it up from my mate's on sunday. What a laugh. Love that engine and no turbo lag 8) sounds lovely. I'm also amazed as to how small it is, I rember driving my parents E30 a few years back after passing my test, it was a big car. It feels tiny compared to the golf I drive at work. Lot's of...

Re: Simple one - 325i valve lash
oh god, i've been Americanised without knowing it. That sucks :D The clearance is there as when hot, the valves and rockers expand. This closes the gap. Otherwise you would set it to near as possible to 0. If you think about it, as they're 2 different things set in place (as such) the only way they ...

Re: LSD Tests
I just read your post in the context it was meant Chris
I originally read it as an lsd allows no slip while driving. Whoops, my mistake.

Re: Simple one - 325i valve lash
I would only use lash in reference to cam driven applications, I don't know why. Just looked it up on the internet too, no idea where it comes from. Never thought of it as sounding american?? Handpaper, if you set the 'clearance' :D at 0.3 hot, then it will be even larger than 0.3 when cold. Sure it...

Re: Simple one - 325i valve lash
0.25mm for inlet and exhaust? (taken from link above) can't be right surely?
I've never seen them recommended to be equal on any engine before.

Re: LSD Tests
A limited slip does allow one wheel to spin on it's own, just transfers a %power to the non spinning wheel. Otherwise it would be a locked diffbillgatese30 wrote: when only one wheel is in the air, open diff will allow wheel to spin, LSD will not allow single wheel to spin

Simple one - 325i valve lash
Could anyone tell me the valve lash for these? mine's an '88 btw. Just picked one up from a mate and it sounds a bit like a sewing machine with a bent needle. What a brilliant engine though! great noise (not the rattle that is). I'd only driven a few 4 pot BMs before this. Oh and firing order could ...

Cheers, I am interested. I'll have to check up on regs at to what ratio's are allowed. I didn't realise there was more than 1, and it has to be std.

Just got a 325
Hi, Myself and a friend just got a gold 325 4 door from ebay as the donor for a rally car. 500quid with full year mot and looks pretty clean from the pics. Hopefully can source an lsd for it pretty soon and get things started :) Bargain I think. Are the lsd's at all easy to come by? or is it a case ...
