Hey Barry i thought only the later E46 M3's were euro 4 compliant there was a change in the emmisions & mpg on some of the 55 plate and 06 & 56 plate cars were euro 4 compliant, although we have a 54 plate and its not subject to the T charge but will not qualify for the ulez charge planned to come i...

There are plenty of S54 E30 conversions in the UK, nothing to fear about going ahead with your own conversion, as you say lots of info on the net detailing different approaches to achieve the same goal. With a variety of different engines capable of going into an E30 there's lots of choice for peopl...

Re: Brake Pipe Flaring (Din or SAE)
I was going for copper, is there anything better that can be shaped by hand?[/quote] Be careful if doing any 90 degree bends by hand, a cheap bending tool( less than £10) will ensure the pipe does not oval out of shape on all but wide sweeping bends. I've used various bending tools ( some cheap) wit...

I think this is the clip that holds the brake line to the trailing arm a‘‡aa» Part number 4, (the one above a‘†aa»holds the abs sensor cable). http://i1050.photobucket.com/albums/s413/ajsparkie/789BD045-5C8C-46C1-91C8-43F0B1036D2B.png [/[URL=http://s1050.photobucket.com/user/ajsparkie/media/E1A93DEA...

As a rule of thumb i agree with the above a‘†aa», but would you enjoy the car more if it had more power? Whats more important to you, the value of your car or how pleasing it is to drive? I have a 318i cab that i converted to 318is, it all looks original & i enjoy the turd, i'm not bothered what its...

I ran a 6speed box on my S54 E30, the gear linkage i used was a bit of a mix & match and shortened to size but worked perfectly. There are also custom off the shelf gearbox mounts that bolt straight up, ( just google & choose what you prefer) or make your own. Here's mine, direct bolt on. http://i10...

Having done an S50 & S54 i would not consider another S50, although they are similar in terms of power, the throttle responce & pick up of an S54 is way superior, 8k rpm in an E30 is always a thrill & use of the sport button adds to the experience in a way that eclipses an S50. I do agree that the S...

Remember although Z3M trailing arms are technically a direct fit to any E30 they do not have brake lines run along them as all E30 trailing arms do therefore have no studs for the brake line clips or brackets on the rears of the backing plates where the hard lines (on an E30 meet the flexible hose t...

A Z3M rear axle is not necessary for an S54 conversion, there are plenty of E30 S54 conversions that don't use one. There are pro's & con's of using that rear axle, don't get hung up if you can't get one, a decent suitably upgraded standard rear end would be ok for a NA S54 conversion IMO. As for th...

I had second hand KW's on my old E30 and they were ok on the road, i decided i needed an upgrade & the clear obvious choice for me was a set of AST's, you do need to do your homework though,( IE: spring rate, length etc) the build quality is superb and AST will customise to suit your needs too. http...

Here's an idea that will work, get your manifold modified to suit! We have a 318i cab and wanted a bit more poke as we found we had to constantly move out of the way of faster traffic on motorways, although smooth and reliable the M40 was, i realised it would be a waste of time trying to get more from it and fitted a complete M42 engine, gearbox & prop.
