There are no problems with the start if the engine is cold. Has anybody got a clue where to begin to look for the fault? I have a 316i 1988 wi...

Warning led's - Service timer...
Hi,
Are the service warning led's in my car just like an egg-timer, or are they actually connected to some functions in my engine?

Yellow service indicator??
Hi, I have a m10 316i 88' When it is cold, the yellow indicator ligth (there are 3-4 green, 1 yellow and 1 red) will come on. When the engine heats up, the light turns off. The yellow is the only light that is ever on. Anyone know what this could be? I don't really know what triggers these lights, a...

Hi B, thanks, I was just our for a run. It started fine when cold, and went on to run perfect. Drowe it for Âa hour and stopped. Next time I started (hot engine) it had problems and went on running like there was some coldstart "function" flodding or starving it! By the way, did you see I edited th...

Hi Brian, I had a dream about my car tonight, and when I woke up I suddenly remembered that the problem had started before the overheating issue, not as bad, but defenetely there... The problem was that it had overheated just a day or two after the vacum hose change, so I got confused. Sorry for the...

Hi again, Been out in the dark and the rain... hate non-winters... I'd rather have sun and frost and maybe snow ;) I dismounted the hose (10) and had a go at the relay. As I figure out it's the middle one in this picture. http://www.scimpag.com/files/Fuelrelay.JPG I shorted the nr. 30 and 87 and not...

Chain reaction: Vacum hose change -> start problems UPDAT
Hi all, I just remembered that my starting problems were there prior to the overheating! Not as serious, but defenetely there. It started after I changed the big vacum hose between the filter and the injection housing. When I start the car, it takes about 10 sek of starting/turning over until the en...

hmmm... no, now I'm confused... the fan and cooler, and the top of the engine with the idle control in the top picture looks like my engine, but the rest: battery, fuse box and wiper fluid box, is exactly like in the lower picture... My car must have been right as they were switching from m10 to m40...

m10 Loosing coolant & overheating
Hi all, I had a little "moment" yesterday... I was driving at 40 mph when the temp gauge started to move above Âa scale. This has never happened before so I was immediately nervous. It only took it 2-3 minutes to go from bad to disaster.. the gauge rose up into the red during my search for a place ...

Identifying the engine
Hi all, I have just bought my first (but not last) BMW. I wonder which engine sits on/in it. I just experienced the obviously well known vacumleak (I have read a 1000 threads in here since I got the car 1 month ago) and now I have to order a new rubberhose among other things to get me started. It's ...
