Re: What bushes are recommended
For a cabby, or a normal road car then I'd just go for oe spec rubber. Poly bushes only really if you like to drive quickly and accept the extra noise / vibration they give in exchange for tighter wheel control. I would check the balljoints in the lower arms for play tools that can cause the wheels ...

Yep. Intake boot for certain. They're about £35 for proper febi ones. A temporary fix with tape will make it more driveable while you wait for a replacement. Just make sure you get one for the right engine / year as there are a few variations even though they all look the same. Mine did the same, wo...

Re: Steering Rack Leak help please
They usually have a small hole in the boots so they can compress and expand with movement of the rack.
The boot is only there as a dirt guard, it's not designed to hold fluid. If rest any fluid in the the main seals in the rack are dead.

The mod is just a set of wider lips. Ou could always sell them and fit narrower ones to make them more workable on an e30. Price is fair compared to other sets I've seen for sale, but is still a lot of money. More than I would want to spend on a set anyway. I you like them, ten that's the sort of mo...

Re: What are these alloys worth? Staggered M Double spoke OE
Yeah, the 3.0 m3 ones have bmw motorsport on them, the evo ones have the recess for the little m badge between two bolt holes. Replicas usually either just say "motorsport" or have no writing and no badge indent, and won't have the bmw stamp or part numbers on them. I think most reps are 7.5in and a...

Re: What are these alloys worth? Staggered M Double spoke OE
The non-standard paint will put some off, but the tyres all being the correct size with a bit of tread will help. I'd suggest somewhere around £250 would be fair to start with. They're definitely the evo version, and even though don't carry the bmw Motorsport script on the front are still often refe...

I don't mind these for a little shopping runabout. Made dad had a 1.2 as a courtesy car and it was a hateful piece of crap. Amazing how a few fairly minor tweeks can transform a car. You can get a Porsche 911 or Maserati for not much more than £10k but who in the Zone has the balls and the wallet to do that ? A decent 996 911 won't cost any more to run than a decent e46 m3. If I could justify one I'd happily have a nice clean facelift manual c2. I'd love a Maserati 3200gt too a...

I'd rather spend £10k on something I could drive and enjoy. Not everyone sees cars as something to keep pristine and factory and never driven.
For £10k I can think of a lot of cars I could actually enjoy instead of spending y weekends polishing tyre treads.

Done properly it's fine. The standard roof is just spot welded along the gutters and screen openings and braised at the pillars. You don't cut the pillars off and bung a new roof on, it's just the quickest way to remove it from the donor while keeping it's shape. Once removed you would carefully pic...

Re: why is a rotten roof terminal?
No. The rust usually starts between the sunroof tray and the underside of the roof. By the time you see the bubbles the rust underneath and hidden inside this joint is a whole lot worse. You could grind out, treat and fill and re spray the roof, but you're only buying yourself a bit more time. It wi...

Because people like their cars and want them to last. It doesn't take long for a couple of scabs to turn into a couple of holes, and in turn an mot failure.

It'll take hardly any water to hydro an engine, especially a diesel. A teaspoon in one cylinder is usually enough. Sometimes the engine will just stop. Removing the plugs and cranking over to clear the water can get them working, but if its gone with any momentum, or stopped and was spun on the star...

Well, the leak from the rack is bad news so that will need replacing regardless.
I'd start with that and see what happens. The pumps themselves are usuall pretty reliable. But yeah, it'll only work if the belt is fitted!

You don't need to bleed brakes just from pushing the piston back when changing pads, unless you've disconnected the caliper from the car or undone the bleed nipple while doing it.

Probably a good idea because fiat twincams have notioriously weak belts with short change intervals. I upgraded my lancia to evo pulleys and belts and still changed it every year for the £20 a belt cost after reading too many horror stories. M20s don't seem to have a cambelt problem. In fact I don't...

The wheels may be rare, but they're not worth a lot. The official bmw eBay shop was selling them off at £50 each not long back! Still, at least they're an easy fix. E36s have much quicker racks than the hideous oil tanker spec e30 racks. The casings are slightly different which alters the angle of the steering shaft and joints which can foul the exhaust depending on the rest of your setup.
