What community would be interested in 16" AC Schnitzers
Hi am selling these alloys but not sure what community wants them. Any ideas? Genuine AC Schnitzer Type 1 alloys with tyres, size 16" x 8" with 35mm offset [8Jx16H2ET35]. The wheels are all stamped "AC SCHNITZER GERMANY" on the front face and "Route O.Z." on the back. http://i1211.photobucket.com/al...

Re: Croft - BMW Trackday - 6th July 2009
Yes, I had a good day too. I struggled in the morning with standard suspension on my iS and the Toyo T1Rs I put on the front were dissapointing. Won't be buying them again, although they worked well in the wet. However, things improved with some tuition and then the wet session after lunch was fanta...

Nick, thanks for sending me the application form. I'm just waiting for my membership of the BMW Club to come through. Should I send the application anyway to avoid missing out? I really looking forward to it (Giles).

Re: Are 185/60 14 R888s OK?
Yes, that backs up my experience from bike track days. This year I've been using a CB500 for track days, which is really a commuter bike :o: . I get blitzed on the straights, but with good tyres I can really attack the corners and embarress a few people. I changed the fluid and pads on the iS for ra...

Are 185/60 14 R888s OK?
I'm thinking of using my 14" wheels for track days. There are 185/60 14 R888s available on ebay which are cheap. I've used 195/60 14s before and they worked well an lowered the gearing a bit. I'm happy with using 185s, just wondering if anyone has any experience with these tyres and do they fit OK o...

First track day
Hi, I want to do my first track day in the next few months. I've done many bike track days, so am familiar with being on track. Just wondering if you would recommend a particular organiser? I live in the north west, so favour Oulton or Anglesea.

Re:
I tried 185/60 on 14s for a change as a way of lowering the gearing. Worked fine on the road; there wasn't a big difference in the gearing, but I could feel it on my 318iS.

Re: 325 or 318iS for a track day?
Yes, I guess it would depend upon whether the car began lifting up the inside rear wheel and messing up the drive or spinning up and causing oversteer. I suspect that's certainly possible. It's certainly a problem on the road in the wet and in second gear corners. The car can't spin up the inside re...

Re: 325 or 318iS for a track day?
Thanks for the comments. My iS is in good standard condition. I suspect I can save a lot of cash by selling it and buying a car which has had the work done. Hence the decision between iS and Tech 1 sport. There was nice track ready 318 on here a few weeks ago, which would leave open the option of th...

Re: 325 or 318iS for a track day?
Thanks for the comments. I've done signifcant track work but on bikes. I suspect I'm a decent driver, but we all think that. When you talk about chasis setup, what do you mean? Are you talking about suspension and steering? I hated the E30 steering when I first bought the car, but have kind of got u...

325 or 318iS for a track day?
I'm sorry if this topic has been done to death already, but I have a 318iS, which I'm very fond of. However, it has no LSD and rahter than spend the money on changing the diff, I'm thinking of upgrading to a tech 1 sport. However, another alternative is to buy a 318iS with a LSD. My main issue is wh...

What's a Schnitzer?
Hi, there's an 86 325i Sport AC Schnitzer on ebay that looks like a good buy. I'm assuming this is a sport that's been modified by AC Schnitzer when new? Anyone know what they do to them and how to check if it's genuine? Item number is 280313720363 if you have a look. Cheers, G

Thanks for that. Main reason for wanting a LSD is that every now and again I do look to put the rear out on 2nd gear corners, just for fun. It's hard without a LSD to get a smooth drift. I've got to the point with my iS that I can't imagine a better balanced car, so the comments about the nose heavy...

Help, should I replace iS with MK1 sport?
Hi, I have a 318iS which I love and have used for the last 4 years. However, I'm thinking about whether a mk1 sport would be better. Any experience? My main issues with the iS is the lack of LSD. I'm not convinced the 325 sport would be much faster. In fact the iS is fast enough top end, but I suspe...

I emailed Torqueflow which is a company in Birmingham who make stainless steel exhausts for a price for my iS. They quoted £280 plus the cost of the end pipe. The company were featured in one of the BMW magazines. This seems a good price and intend to purchase with a twin pipe end. Will let you kn...

BTW, a 3.91 LSD will increase the gearing very slightly over standard (4.1), not lower it. So you will loose a little acceleration and increase top speed. Or am I confused again...

Re:
Thanx. My feeling is the 3.64 would be better for long runs, especially as my cars has 14" wheels on right now with 195/60s, which is slightly lower profile than standard - i.e. it's geared down a bit. Also, on the rally I spent a lot of time switching between 2nd and 3rd. A higher 2nd gear might ha...
