Blue relay

Hi all, couple of questions for you, 1) can you tell me what the blue relay is behind the glovebox which connects to the multi pin connector? I think it's the fuel pump relay? 2) can anyone tell me what all the connections on this plug are for? It's behind the glovebox by the side of the sliding plu...

Re: ccv dipstick tube.

the first one is the charcoal canister that your fuel tank vapour pipe connects to but it's not really required on your conversion unless your particularly a 'greenie' (environmental saving person lol) the second one is the e36 heater matrix valve and is also not required to fit this engine to your ...

Re: M52 oil cooler

you can fit an oil cooler to the standard housing if you make the parts up like i have just done so it's not the only way by using an s50 part but if you can't machine your own parts the price will probably be cheaper to do so.

my car is lightened though, but then it's short geared too so i suppose it compensates for it. i think in all honestly it would be okay as an everyday runner, although the cams idling wouldn't impress the missus lol

Re: 318is more cc?

I haven't had it on the rollers, but i think 150-160 is a reasonable assumption although this is based on a guess so isn't a fact. the cams are supposed to bring 10-15bhp or so the ecu remap should bring about the same, the engine is freshly rebuilt and the head skimmed so the compression is margina...

Re: 318is more cc?

I'm considering selling my m42 engine from my rally car if you are interested? it has a set of cat cams, it's been fully rebuilt with proof etc around 2000 miles ago, has three angle valve seats cut in it, has a big bore throttle body and a fully remapped ecu (not just a chip). it also has a lightwe...

an e39 usually has a double vanos engine which has a different wiring type, canbus and therefore isn't compatible.

Re: Diff woes

you need an e36 or e34 'fin' if you split it carefully and keep the parts on the same side as they came from you can pull the centre out and pry it off and press a new one back on which is the correct size.

hmm changed my icv for my spare one and it's worse now than previously! i checked the non return valve by blowing/sucking it and it seems to be working ok and i searched high and low for air leaks but cannot find anything. stalling occasionally on idle when braking

new pump is around £35 and is easy enough to fit if you'd want to give it a go? you'd need new antifreeze too don't forget and you could put a new thermostat in if yours is the original one? (£10 ish). as tps says the m42 (your engine name) has a timing chain which never really need changing in the ...

i used the lower one, be aware the keys aren't the best though. i got mine cut and they were a slightly different width to the originals and wouldn't open my doors. i got another cheapy cut from and trimmed it to fit the aperture in the key. it didn't come with an e30 specific wiring diagram but it ...
