Re: Fitting Ball Joints
So, what is the crack with poly bushes?
It is the outer ball joint that is knackered, so anything I can do whilst I am at it would probably make life easier.

Fitting Ball Joints
Both the outer ball joints on my front suspension are shagged, and will need to be replaced. I can't see there being a problem knocking the old ones out. Question is, how would I go about getting new ones in. I am thinking that a drift would enable me to put this into a vice, and close it, pressing ...

Re: Reverse lights and rear fogs
Ok, will check that on sunday morning. Still leaves the question, why the hell are the rear fogs not working. If it helps, I was tooling around behind the glove box fitting a new bonnet release catch. From looking at a could of other posts, I understand there is a some circuit board or something in ...

Re: Reverse lights and rear fogs
Any suggestion of where i should be checking for the current with the reverse light???
As for the fog lights, nothing seems any clearer. Maybe the front buld is disconnected/blown, but what about the rears???

Reverse lights and rear fogs
325 touring. Reverse light (at rear) and rear fogs not showing anything. When selected, the front dash light illuminates, but only when the front fogs are also on. No signs of life on reverse lights. This is the same on both sides of the car (i.e. neither rear fogs and neither reverse lights are wor...

Running with the hot fuel/air in the fuel lines, does anyone know if any suggestions to remove/prevent this?

Engine won't start when hot
My 325 Touring starts first time, every time, when cold, however, when the engine has been running, the fun and games start. Normally, when the engine has been ran for a ten or so minutes, it will not start first time, starting second or third time. However, on Wednesday I was driving from Brighton ...

Any penalty points??? What technical offence was the notice issued for??? Easist way out of any offence is check the paperwork first: most errors get you out of it. I have a similar problem, although mine is required due to a nice bit of rot on the outside of the panel. Am I right in understanding that if I buy the right colour panel, all I will require is (1) the sealant for the panel, and (2) any replacement fixings which may be appropriate?

Re: Bastard alarm keeps going off
How would that sit with the alarm going off more than three hours after the car had been locked? (i.e. the final time it went off). Are there easy ways to check if this is happening? For example, is there any change in what the indicator lights, and also the immobiliser light, will do? Where should ...

Any ideas on how to test for a voltage drop? I have a Sepristar 480 (I think) fitted to my 325i. Today I blipped the fob to open the doors and within about ten seconds all hell broke lose with the alarm. It would not shut up for about 15 minutes whatever I did. Having left it to calm down for about 15 minutes I went on my way. When I got to my...

How to overhaul a steering rack
I have a shagged power steering rack (was p1ssing 'oil' all over the place). Having got hold of a rack in decent condition from the local breakers, I now have a spare. Rather than throw this away, I would like to overhaul the rack, leaving a spare for the next time my rack goes. Ideally looking for ...

Touring springs

Before fitting a manual system, I will try and get the system working so that I am not left with a pointless hole in the shroud under the steering column.

I was thinking along the lines of working on the actuators to ensure that they are function freely. Once they are moving freely, try re-pressurising the system. I am not sure of what goes in the pipes (I have been told it could be various liquids), but with the correct fluid I believe it should be p...

Overhauling adjustable headlights
My e30 has the adjustable headlight option, however this does not appear to function correctly as the lights do not move and appear to set very low. Ian332 believes that the system has developed a leak, so has defaulted to a safe position (well, safe for other road users). Does anyone have any exper...
