Volvo 740 Central Locking Problem
Just looking for some fresh eyes on this... A few weeks back the central locking on my 740 estate failed, no doors nor tailgate locking from the key in the drivers door other than the drivers door itself (mechanical). Checking the tailgate I noticed that I couldn't lock it with the key so went hunti...

Re: Cold Start Problem and Un-even Idle...
Just to close this out....It looks like I had a dislodged IACV connector (likely cold start problem) and a couple of my leads needed a bit of a clean (and likely replacement) solving the hesitancy we were feeling while driving.
Driving fine now.

Cold Start Problem and Un-even Idle...
Just had timing and drive belts changed, water pump and coolant (blue) temp & temp sender sensors replaced. Thermostat changed. Looks like cold starting is a problem now. Starts but foot off the throttle (say changing through (auto) gears) engine stalls. And, either at idle or when driving, there's ...

Re: Thermostat - 92c instead of 88?
Reason that E30 cooling systems use the lower pressure cap is the known problem with the heater matrix/valve just above the passenger's legs. These are known to spray hot coolant onto unsuspecting passenger's tootsies,so BMW initiated a re-call to fit E30 with the 1.4bar cap..... Hmmmm....so a 92c ...

Thermostat - 92c instead of 88?
Just going to get some belts changed on the M40. I happen to have a 92c thermostat (for an M50) realoem indicates that the m40 uses the 88c. The m50 can take either....Could I put the 92c into the m40? Any particular downsides?

Re: Changing Belts - M40
Drive belts are the water pump/fan/alternator one and the power steering one. Both idlers should be changes along with the timing belt, and the water pump is a good idea 'while you're in there'. Thanks Brian. Re idlers - assuming this is the correct page http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E30/Cabrio...

Had the 318i checked over by a BMW garage - amongst other items they indicated I need a timing belt and "both drive belts" changed...what are they referring to re drive belts? Steering - Sudden 'give/freeing-up' whilst turning?
Issue is when turning either right or left, after about a quarter turn say, any resistance in the wheel suddenly goes for another few degrees of turn and then comes back to normal again. It almost feels like something rubbery has suddenly given way...Hope I'm explaining this adequately. Anyhoo, if a...

You may be able to work with the plug in place,or you may find it easier to dis-connect it and pull it back into the car.
Need to get myself some soldering equipment.
