[electric] Sunroof not closing flush

Sunroof on my Touring is having a slight paddy. It closes up OK, and seals correctly, but there is a slight mismatch (4-5mm at the centre) between the final position of the sunroof and the main roof skin. Is this common and/or easy to remedy? I know it's not letting water in but it's untidy and I'm ...

Inaccurate fuel gauge

Symptoms: Fuel gauge under-reads. Anything below half a tank just registers as zero. Occasionally seems to read right but will then settle back either to nothing or a fraction of what is actually there. Reserve light appears to be functioning correctly. Is this a sender issue or something else? Car ...

Suspension Upgrades?

Guys, I'm looking to upgrade the suspension on my 318iS as there's just a bit too much air between the tyres and the arch, and I'd like to banish body roll etc. for a more sporty feel. I don't want the car to feel compromised in any way though - i.e. not bone-jarringly hard in the ride department. A...

Thickie ECU question....

Please feel free to rip the piss out of me for asking such a twattingly simple question..... but where does the ECU live on a 318iS????? 8O

I've looked in all the places I thought I might find it, but to no available.

What a plonker, eh!?

Either really - just like to know what other peeps are using to get brighter illumination. I have standard cheapo bulbs in at present - obviously I can upgrade these fairly easily - I didn't know if there was some kind of aftermarket unit which had better reflective surfaces or shape to make things ...

Main beam blinding - dipped a bit poo!
A cose of better bulbs needed or are there off the shelf units that wil help illuminate things a little?

Lot's of talk of late about these "smoked hellas" - of any benefit??

How do I...?

OK guys, theoretical question:

If I wanted to paint the centres of some Alloy wheels, how would I go about it?

Is it the same as any other metal surface? I.e. clean, rub down, paint, cut back, polish?

Mystery fuelling hiccup on 318iS?

Time for a bit of head scratching.... Last night was driving down to London for work when my 318iS developed an odd fuel problem. Firstly I noticed the economy gauge swing suddenly down to 15mpg for no apparent reason. Then the car spluttered momentarily, like a slight misfire or something. It felt ...

You need to think about what you want to achieve by fitting alloy wheels. Looks or performance. IN MY OPINION those ones will probably not have either...... A decent set of steel wheels will actually be lighter and stronger than cheap alloys which may be prone to cracking..... ....BUT the steelies w...

Am I the only person in the land who doesn't like the iS lip spoiler?? I think it just looks a bit odd, the front of the car having that lip so close to the ground when the rest of the bodywork isn't at the same level

Sooty - NOTHING from the speedo at all??? That's odd. What had been happening was that it would kick in after the car had been running 5 minutes or so. I'm surprised it didn't kick in on the drive back to P'boro from mine, as it was working OK on Tuesday which was the last time I made a long journey...

318iS chips?

Guys - I've always been a bit wary of chips as I've heard far too many sob stories of zero improvement / knackered engines / poorer performance etc......but speaking to Sooty the other day it would appear that there is one sort of chip that you guys are using above all others.... What is it? Is it a...

Dim instrument lights?

I have noticed that the instrument backlighting on both my 316 and 318iS is pretty pants. Is this a general e30 thing??? If yes, what can be done to improve? Alot of my driving is done at night (I work engineering shifts on the underground and it a 100 mile round trip) and it would be nice to have s...

Such a difficult choice. The BBS I used to have were nice and progressive in slide with no vibration. But kinda didn't look very special. With the 'Pina reps (ex-Simon) there's waaay better grip in the dry, but it comes at the expense of boominess and tramlining. But they do look soooooooooo sweet. :?
