I don't know if its the norm but my doctor had nothing to do with mine. The insurance company insisted i go to a specialist of their chosing which i did and his report is what they base their payment (if any) on. It does seem a bit of a racket. You need to watch out for the scum who slam on the brakes to get a fraudulent claim in. Happens a lot in north London (esp on the A10)

If the doctors weren't so keen to give the ok then this wouldn't happen.

Also it's a good reason to keep a reasonable distance from the car in front.

Pressure needs to be brought on the government to do something about uninsured drivers.
