Goodyear F1 GS-D3 are good, particularly in the wet

http://eu.goodyear.com/uk_en/tires/repo ... e=benefits

Toyo T1-R are also good but have a stiffer sidewall so less comfort (but better turn in). I have also found that they let go more suddenly than the Goodyears.

Uwe, thanks for the kind offer but I don't really need the original BMW one.

Re: M3 (S14) NGK spark plug tool

I've got a spare one I am going to put on ebay! Never realised that NGK plugs have different spanner size! Why don't you use the Bosch plugs if you don't mind me asking? Not very expensive at GSF What, a spare 18mm narrow wall spark plug socket or a spare original toolkit spark plug tool? I will be...

Re: M3 (S14) NGK spark plug tool

Well they sell for about £100 on ebay, best to buy a motor bike spark plus spanner and there is a thread on s14.net about alternatives Jason I believe that that is for the original tool box spark plug tool. I have a tool for the original plugs but NGK's are fitted at the moment and I don't have a n...

M3 (S14) NGK spark plug tool

Could anyone tell me where I can get a narrow wall spark plug tool to fit NGK plugs in a S14 engine?

What size do I need (I think that it is 18mm)?

I have the BMW spark plug socket (11/16" = 17.5mm) for the original Bosch plugs but that doesn't fit (It's too small).

Re: Detail

One Question, might be sounding daft and not full awake but, 50/50 exhaust? Are you on about the larger bore manifold from the evo3's etc? Its the larger 50mm -> 50mm exhaust manifold but not the one from the Evo III (Sport Evo) as that has a different flange on it. I also had the manifold ceramic ...

Re: Detail

Yes, the torque is down a bit below about 5000rpm. You can feel this on the road as a slight reluctance to pull at motorway speeds (I'm running a 3.64 diff so 80mph is about 4200rpm) or on A-roads when cruising. However, when out for a blast, the additional torque and power above 5000rpm is definite...

Not wishing to hijack the thread but I would be interested in someone who does a good job with M3 (S14) heads.

M3 tuning - the results

I bought my M3 about six months ago and decided that it wasn't running as well as it should. So, I embarked upon a project to bring the engine up to a more modern specification. The plan was to give it a good service first and replace the exhaust system as it was too loud for many track day venues. ...

Re: cheap tuning tips.....

Always worth doing the simple (cheap) things first, particularly on an old car. For the engine: spark plugs, HT leads, distributor cap, rotor arm, fuel filter, air filter, all vacuum hoses, oil and filter change, gearbox and diff oil. For the suspension: pretty much all the rubber bushes changed for...

Re: Removing suntan cream from paintwork

Thanks John. I've already tried the clay - no joy. I'm trying to avoid T-cut type products if possible, but there may be no choice.

Removing suntan cream from paintwork

We drove to the beach for our holiday this year. The kids managed to get suntan cream hand prints on the car and I must admit that I've been slow in cleaning it. It's probably been a month or so but this morning I decided to give the car a good wash. The hand prints just won't budge. I've tried: Meg...
