Diff ratio's and fuel economy. big/small case

right i've been driving my 325i auto for about 6months now and notice that the auto with the 3.64lsd only turns 2600rpm at 70mph. this leads to a little bit of a strange phenomenon being that if i run the car closer to 80mph the fuel consumption is better then at 70 as the engine is turning 2900rpm ...

it wasn't only 325i sport that had them (yes they had standard). but as with any car of this type they had an options catalogue. my 87 325i SE Auto has one in 3.64 ratio along with AC and sun blind, OBC etc

Re: obc temp sensor

more then likely. same reason why different fuel senders give different readings on different gauges. say the early OBC is set to work with 200-2000ohms and the later sender is 2000-5000ohms then the reading will be all wrong. not sure exactly what the ranges are on both temp senders those are just ...

it appears that the early ones are all black with a long cable attached, while the later ones have a plug into the body. not sure if the resistance ranges are the same.

Re: obc temp sensor

thanks, i think I've found it. kinda looks like it could of been a snapped screw poking out of a hole under the screw that holds the bumper in place. I'll try and get it out and see if the connections are bad and maybe redo them. supposedly these things are supposed to have a lifetime use out of the...

no interest in solids. it's a day to day car. some of my buddies in the US have the ireland engineering ones in there volvo 240 turbos' which appear to work well even with high power loads.

might just get some from GSF on the cheap.

lights arrived today at quarter to three, had to alter a bit of wiring but had them done my 4pm. Pre-facelift lights use a common ground for the sidelight and dipped beam while the smiley's use separate ones, main beam just plugs in. so to get them working i had to cut the 3 wire plug off my car loo...

basically to improve the weight distribution closer to a 50/50 split. they were designed as a bit of a drivers cars which is also why the fuel tank is in front of the rear axle, this means that as it empty's it doesn't upset the handling as much as cars which had it hanging out the back (my old volv...

Tourer under the bonnet From what I've seen the rear interior space in a 2 door E30 is the same as a 4 door. therefore it's not a coupe, it's a 2 door saloon (sorry for demolishing wilding accepted concepts.) but anyway, my 1987 325i SE auto along with a few other ...
