Re: Carbon or GRP roof
I'm not doing anything, just passing on what the carbon suppliers are telling me, but from the pics (to be posted up soon) it does look as though there will be a slight 'step' on the a and b pillars. Although the edges are feathered and join at a knife edge rather than a 1mm step of carbon. I'm not ...

Re: Carbon or GRP roof
I've had an e-mail from performance trim www.performance-trim.com about the E30 carbon roof skin. Theses are one of the companies that I originally approached when I was trying to get a group buy up and running and they say that they now have an E30 carbon roof skin developed, someone has commission...

Re: Carbon or GRP roof
I tried to get a group buy going last year at £500 each but fell through for various reasons, if someone want's to pick it up again then there are companies out there making them for all sorts of cars now. If you just want the carbon look then 3M do a very good 'textured' film di-noc? that looks ver...

E30 & E21 cage
Is the E30 and E21 shell / structure the same basic design and shape? Demon Tweeks appear to be selling off their stock of E21 roll cages. Thought that it might be a cheaper alternative if it fits?

Re: Compomotive TH1680 Mono
I got a quote from Compomitive yesterday for a set of 4 MO1680 7 x 16 ET20 £733 inc vat and delivery to give everyone a ball park on price. What Compomotive do is have loads of wheels on the shelf but as 'blanks' that they can machine up to what ever pcd people order. The MO1680 is a brand new wheel...

Cheers Uwe, yeah perhaps the eye bolt brackets are a bit over engineered but it is strong! Not sure on price to be honest but with the raw materials and the hardware that goes with it about £50/60 plus postage? Mine was £50 as a one-off / favour so for his time laser cutting and welding on additiona...

Harness Bar
I've just had a mate of mine make me up a removeable (bar itself), wheel arch brackets are permanently bolted in place, harness bar so that I can run harnesses without a rollcage and this mounts the harness at a better level / angle than bolting to the floor. http://img808.imageshack.us/img808/3073/...

Airdale are who I've used before, good fit in the original rubber seal and you can order them with degrees of tint. Plastics for motorsport are another one but I've not used them.

Re: HOTTUNING BMW E30 COILOVER KIT ADJUSTABLE SUSPENSION
Are these the ones that aren't really coilovers but use the original lower spring pan with cone shaped springs on the front and springs and shocks in the original place on the rear, so not coilovers again?

Re: Trailer size
Brian James Clubman 1400 is what I've got, carries an E30 really well. Second hand prices are as much as new these days so you might as well spec a new one to how you want it, they'll turn it round in about 2 weeks as well.

No but when I saw your link I was interested so I've called them and they've sent me some more details. Basically they aren't coilovers at all and the picture in the advert doesn't help because it's for a different application. What you get in the kit is:- Rear struts and springs, but springs sit in...

I've seen a carbon fibre panel from the states but it was mental money. Not one in fibreglass though. I'd be interested in one as I'm just about to change the roof skin on mine to a non-sunroof one!!

Cobra also do a specific E30 mount and I've put my Recaro SPG on one of these before. They are a very good bit of kit but Cobra have recently got very funny about supplying just the frame. They will happily sell you a seat / frame combination. I'm in the process of adapting a standard seat base to t...

I've found a mint 2dr shell and now need to sort out an engine swap (was originally a 318 auto). What's the advice on later BMW engines, looking to use the car for occassional track days and once a year to the Nurgurgring. Not an out and out track / race car so some compromises allowed. Circa 200bhp...

Re: Comfortable bucket
I've previously used a Recaro Pole Poistion but recently got myself a Recaro SPG, a very good seat and comfortable. If you're on the skinny side then I'd say the Sparco as you can get additional lumber and kidney support padding that velcro's in. Also, I've previously used a Corbeau kevlar seat (tha...
