BMW 116i VERY rough running.
Does anyone have any insight to this?? BMW n45b16a 2006 116i (non eccentric shaft, non balancer shaft) Came in many moons ago due to correlation between crank and cam signals being out of sync. Had a genuine timing chain and guides as well as oil suction tubes etc renewed and it ran much better and ...

Throttle position sensor? Possibly not registering WOT signal. They're known to fail due to oil ingress.

I've been quoted £1800 plus materials which will be in glasurit for a full sport to be painted. And that's not including strip and reassembly. That'll have to be done by me. So for £1500, it's either a bargain or may be sub standard.

Can anyone actually give an indication to the cars and/or persons whereabouts as oppose to what's possibly become of it and how wrong his/my actions are instead? And probe in to reasons and details purely to give their opinion which is actually of minimal use?

Re: anyone know this guy and car
Hey fellas. Basically I bought and paid for the car last year and had an arrangement with the owner that it can stay at his place and rot and it'd be ok as his land was of fair size. As long as it got paid for which it did. Trying to get in touch with him now to collect it and all of a sudden the pe...

Also if you go exactly as I am, m20b20 block. You may want to message simon13. He has been exposed to a b10 biturbo and may possibly know what the ring gap tolerances are. Copying a m30b34t ring gap is as close as you'd get to having it correct as no one really has a definitive answer of what it oug...

Hey fella. I'm on the same band wagon... My setup will be 325i low comp pistons. Eta crank and rods all chucked in to a freshly bored out m20b20 block. Personally I'm going for a bored out block is so the ring gap is as good as possible to minimise blow by on a turbo application. Going 2.7 will requ...

Basically the car needs hydraulic valve lifters... Adapting the valvetronic won't necessary help the cold running. The lifters are glazed and can no longer hold pressure.

Why hasn't this ever been in to practice?
Ok. So you have your vehicle which with just over 12 volts cranks the starter motor happily and fires your car in to life. So there's ample oomph available... Why aren't there self propelled alternators?? They have less rotational resistance. You'd switch the ignition on, a 12 volt, 2500rpm motor st...

Re: Coilovers VS Springs & Shocks
Youre better buying a top end spring and shock kit (bilstein/h&r) compared to a budget or mediocre coilover kit. And if it's for the road only. Then only go as far as a proper suspension overhaul with a b12 kit. Anything more than that is just unnecessary
