1 litre = 1 kilo, so about the 1022kg mark with minimal fuel.
'fraid not :)

1 litre of unleaded is approx 0.75kg

That wasn't a PBMW car. Best on the day was 57.1s

Remember, we're on sticky tyres, which is worth a few seconds a lap over road tyres.

Personally, I'd be looking for a M42 16V engine. Easy to fit, decent power-to-weight ratio and you won't ruin the handling by sticking extra cylinders up the front.

But I'm biased becasue 6-pots are the enemy :)

I think the legal limit for an unbraked trailer is 750kg. Which is why you sometimes see a Fiat Ciquento behind a campervan - it's the only (sensible) car light enough.

Just found some info here:
http://www.ukmotorhomes.net/towing.shtml

The speed limits make it look like a death wish! :)

i use a towing dolly so much easier and cheaper But probably illegal as they're not "braked". When I'm at home I don't have room to hitch up the trailer before loading the car. But you need rear stands for this! I winch the jockey wheel up high until the ramp angle is small enough so that the car d...

You may want all that metal in the door if you have a shunt.

The standard door cards are actually very light.

You might consider polycarb instead of glass?

hoshy,

Now might be the time to visit

and ask further questions in there.

You'll find a bigger audience of Production BMW drivers who have all been through this before... well, apart from the driving ban perhaps.

hoshy, they're actually quite nice in the wet. Especially the 318 as it's better balanced. Not many spins as you can hold quite a big "angle of dangle" :) As you say, the Milltek (now Production BMW Championship) is a great place to start. If you want to start tinkering with the engine etc then you ...

How do you guys gee on in the class E kumho? You can do quite well in the wet. This is from a very wet qualifying at Pembrey: http://www.msttiming.com/singlesession.asp?table=53221qu1bmw&round=pembrey.gif Much bigger gaps in the dry, though. The tyres are confirmed at Ԛ£49 each, good eh? :) On engine work, there are strict limits for head skimming and overboring - it's all in the regs. Engines are power tested at each race meeting so any "naughtiness" will quickly be discovered. I put together a spreadsheet of parts needed to build...

It's a popular and well subscribed championship. The front running cars are *VERY* quick so you need to expect to be lapped once or twice per race which has an effect on the value for money you get from your entry fees. Your best bet for finding out how competitive your Civic would be is on this for...

What size steering wheel do you have? Increase the size to decrease effort. Many Milltek cars have PAS racks with the hydraulics disabled. You could also look at the BARC-SE Track and Race Car saloon car championship, especially if you want to keep your car road legal. They have a class where you must keep all the interior trim etc.

My car stands me at about Ԛ£4k to prep and then Ԛ£1k per season on maintainance/upgrades and Ԛ£1500-2000 on entry fees.

I'd be surprised if anyone was much more than 25% over that figure and the majority are probably 25% under!
