Re: My E30's - 320i PBMW race car and 318is
cheers, I've had a look at a picture of one on eBay and it does look slightly different.
No idea when the tensioner was last done and for £26 on eurocarparts it seams silly not to just chuck one on.

Re: My E30's - 320i PBMW race car and 318is
Sounds like a familiar list of fixes! Currently about to replace my 318is rocker cover too, it's come from an e36, so I assume it fits. Post the confirmation here ASAP when it arrives. that would be great if you could. Majority of the easy fixes are getting there, its nice to work on a car where yo...

Re: My E30's - 320i PBMW race car and 318is
As of tonight the electric mirrors work, rebuilt and cleaned the switch in the door. They're not all that quick to adjust but can't have been used for at least 4 or 5 years so hopefully a bit of use will free them up

Re: My E30's - 320i PBMW race car and 318is
thats a tricky one as I haven't driven the PBMW for a few months from what i've read the 318is should handle better but at the moment I've only driven it it the wet with a different brand of tyre on each corner. One thing I have noticed is I prefer the lack of power steering on my 320. Managed to so...

My E30's - 320i PBMW race car and 318is
It's been a while since I've been on here but thought I'd share a bit of info on my E30's First is my PBMW race car which I've owned and raced for about 5 years, its a 1986 chrome bumper 320i. Great fun and slowly getting a bit quicker. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a135/AndyE30M3/ScreenShot2014...

Bugger it!
I'm going to have to eat humble pie just taken the strut brace off and the hole under the brace looks like it's been ovaled out, presumably to take the old top mount

Re: Front top mounts
I've never noticed my car having anything out of the ordinary on the front turrets and the race team that swapped the old coil overs for the AST's never said anything. I think it's best I go and have a look and measure whats there but even the AST came off another E30 and bolted straight on. He does...

Re: Front top mounts
He's saying that the spacing between the bolts on his car are 4inch, 4 inch and 3.5inch and that the top mounts are all 4inches apart. Seams very strange that they've been unbolted from my car and won't fit his. I'm going to try and get down to where I keep the race car tonight to check but given th...

Hi Can anyone tell me if all E30 front top mounts are interchangeable across the range? I.E are the 3 bolts that fix the top mount to the car always in the same place I have a bit of a confusing situation as I've sold my old coilovers and the buyer is saying they don't fit. I've spoken to a couple o...

Re: where is the place to get an in date race suit
It's on page 164/165 for this link http://www.msauk.org/uploadedfiles/msa_forms/bluebooks/14/2014_MSA_Yearbook.pdf FIA 8856-2000 for racing for sprints and hill climbs you can use either the FIA 8856-2000 or the 1986 standard but realistically the 1986 standard will be phased out first so I'd aim to...

Re: where is the place to get an in date race suit
I've bought both of mine off ebay.
I don't think they don't need to be in date like karting suits but need to be to the correct standard as noted in the blue book.

Re: Rear disc conversion - need to change master cylinder?
Calipers have all been serviced Does anyone know if the pressure regulator is different between drum and disc cars? Could also just be me being a bit rubbish! Rear disc conversion - need to change master cylinder?
My PBMW 320i has had a rear disc conversion at some point in its life and I'm not 100% sure it's been done correctly Tends to wear out rear pads quite quickly compared to fronts and I'm not that confident on he brakes. Tried various pads but still don't seam 100% correct Does anyone know if you need...

I'd quite like it myself as I think my PBMW race car would look quite good being towed with it, but as I do 20,000+ miles a year I need boring diesels for everyday use

Bodyworks pretty good, no rust etc. I don't know much about the car but I think it's got the expensive custom exhaust manifold, LSD etc he's stuck it up on ebay with a 3k start so I guess it's in the right ball park http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161131987774?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438....

A friend of mine is looking to sell his S50 3.0 powered E30 touring but being a bit of an unusual car isn't too sure what to ask for it.
Very nicely built.
Any idea what these tend to sell for?

Re: How heavy is yours?
Mines 1125kg in line with the PBMW regs.
Thats with myself, 16kg in the floor and some fuel.
Mine's an early car which I believe is lighter to start with but I'd have thought I could easily get the car itself below 1000kg whilst still retaining the wiring loom and standard panels.

I've just bought a gaz set up
fronts are 600lbs and 6 inch long
can't remember what was on the rear coilovers but think they're 300lbs similar length (may be quite wrong on that though)

Re: Wheels spacers - where from?
Try looking for 11mm, 10mm and less don't tend to be hubcentric. Is 1mm going to make much of a difference? Under normal circumstances no but I'll be right on the limits of the PBMW championship with 10mm. I've got some non hubcentric 10mm one's but get far to much wheel wobble when using them. I c...

Re: opinions on a E46 M3
I think that BMW used a different oil for the first 1200 miles, if not changed before circa 2000 miles BMW would invalidate the warranty and would also refuse to sell it on their forecourts. Space saver wheel that fits an E30 320?
loaded my track car on to the trailer last week and it's become quite apparent that if I don't fit so thinner wheels to the front the brand new light weight alloys are going to quickly get even more damaged as the width of the trailer means the cars almost jammed between the side rails. Can't change...
