Thinking about getting an E36 328i Sport

Guys, I'm thinking about getting an E36 328i Sport Coupe, prices seem to be falling in the current economic climate! I've been searching google for some information on these cars, and haven't had much luck finding relevant resources. Does anyone know where I can find the following? E36 BMW Forum/Com...

Re: Think my calipers are fecked.

old pads looked OK i think.
Not inspected the dust covers on the pistons...

I didn't clean and lubricate the sliding pins, not sure what you mean by this?

No, I followed the bed-in procedure with the new pads.

Cheers

Re: Think my calipers are fecked.

Don't think it's worth reconditioning them for the sake of £15 a side, would cost me more than that in time! I'll buy them reconned I reckon.

Is it fairly easy to bleed the brakes on E30's?

Worth upgrading to braided hoses at the same time?

Think my calipers are fecked.

I recently upgraded my discs to cross drilled items, and fitted Mintex fast road pads. If I brake heavily, one wheel locks up, then the other, resulting in me having to fight the steering wheel to keep the car moving in a straight line. I notice when rolling to a stop on the brakes, the steering whe...

Wheel rear bearing, Taper or Press?

I just rang my local garage for a quote on getting my wheel bearing done.

They said it'd be an hours labour for a tapered bearing, or 2-3 hours for a press in bearing.

Any ideas which type it is on the E30?

Re: hesitation on Hard cornering (M42)

Not sure, I'd say it had about £15 in there at the time. When I can afford to fill her up, I'll try it again.

But the fuel system should be under pressure??

hesitation on Hard cornering (M42)

When coming out of a tight bend quite fast (roundabouts for example) I get a hesitation, which feels almost like a missfire (but doubt it is a missfire, because it never happens unless I'm cornering).

Some sort of fuel starvation? Although I wasn't sure this is possible with injection...

Hey guys

I don't have a haynes manual yet, and want to replace my thermostat.

Is it located in the top hose mounting plate where it meets the engine block?

OK I can get a Haynes manual for about £16, is this as good as the bentley manual I've heard mentioned?

Where can I get a bentley manual?

Fast road pads?

Easy guys

What fast road pads would you reccomend with my cross drilled brakes?

I want them to be fairly usable for normal driving (i.e. it's not a dedicated track car)

Brakes locking up unevenly

When I do an emergency stop, one wheel tends to lock up way before the other. It's mostly the offside front that locks up, but sometimes it's the nearside front, but not usually both together... Does this suggest a caliper issue? I've just fitted cross drilled discs and new pads all round (second ha...

Filling up with petrol

What the hell is up with E30's and filling up with petrol? Is there a technique I'm missing? It seems the only way I can prevent the nozzle from clicking and not dispensing any fuel, is to spend about 20 mins getting the petrol into the tank! Or I can do it quickly, and it'll shoot back out the tank...

How long does your 318is take to warm up?

After 15 mins of driving, my temp gauge is barely on a quarter... Takes a good 20 mins to get up past the quarter, and after a long run it gets close to the half way line.

it does my head in, because it takes ages before I can give it some beans...

I'm in Bishopston mate, Ashley Down area.

If you could spare some time at some point, I reckon I can limp around a little while longer... I'd happily do all the work under someone elses supervision and pay them for the advice.. I just don't want to cock it up.

Re: Are there any Zoner's in Bristol with a bearing puller?

I thought I'd have to spend £60 on the tools, will the £20 tool really suffice? Is it fairly easy to do once you have the tool? I'd happily attempt it myself if I knew I'd get a result, can't be leaving the car arse in the air for a week as I'd have no transport :(

Are there any Zoner's in Bristol with a bearing puller?

Hi Guys Are there any Zoner's in the Bristol area who'd be willing to lend me a bearing puller, or even better be willing to help me change my rear near side wheel bearing? I'd happily throw someone some hard earned cash if they help me out. I really can't afford to pay a garage to do it, and I don'...
