thanks Gareth you make it sound almost do able, but to someone who does not know mechanics would you advise giving it a go, i can get a hoist from next doors, but the disconnecting of the other bits sounds a lot of work? i know things on motors are very rarely easy, are there like bushes and stuff o...

sorry i didnt say it was a 318is,
and the mot station have said "offside front sub-frame fractured"?
i really dont know cars so i cant say anymore other then i really appreciate your help

Is Changing My O/S Front Sub Frame Tricky?

yeh, i've had to repeat the process a couple of times and it seems to be fine now, the engine bay looks much better and all the different bits are easier to distinguish, this has created me a bit of grief but I think it was well worth it, for the record I used a high pressure and hot washer and only...

i crammed a disk cloth in the plug holes and I am sure that it soaked up some water, it still is'nt running spot on but it sounds like more like it should, ill get some wd40 tomz,

do you recon i should take the plugs out and check, i looked at the long rubbed bits which cover them up and they look fine.
could i have drowned the alternator, could the fact it was fine for a good twelve miles mean anything?

I cleaned the engine bay :cry:
Today i cleaned my engine bay and after driving it for twelve miles its started running lumpy and it doesnt do the business when i apply the gas.
Can anyone tell me what bit has the water in and how I could sort this?

i think that it depends somewhat on how you use the car, i think i could cruise with 17's at the weekend but i would miss the 15's when takling the trip to work, i recently aquired a new E30 318is and it came with 17's i loved the look however the handling of the car was very diiferent to my origina...

Hello,
Can anyone tell me if the parcel shelf contributes towards the strength of the car.
What i mean is, if I cut large bits out of it to fit sub's etc, would it compromise the cars strength?

I have a 318is and I want to change the o/s front leg with that of another 318is because the wheel bearing is shot?
Is this tricky?
Can anyone give us some tips of how to do this?

I managed to get a tool similar to the above but it did'nt fit. Tried the bashing a socket on trick and that didnt work either. However the seller said today thought he left it in the motor but he will call the place he brought the wheels from and try and get another key. Fingers crossed, in the mea...

I bought a car from the other end of the country and forgot to ask for the locking wheel nut key
Can these be busted?
They are 17's, i think they are kahns
The nut is solid with a few half circles cut from round the outside
any ideas

changing a front wheel bearing?

If you were broke but needed a wheel bearing could re fit one of another car with 200k on the clock or would that just wrong?
