Re: Code for Blaupunkt please

There’s a free downloadable windows software app on the internet called ”aBlaupunkt calculator v1.0”a which is a bit clunky to use but once you figure it out (it’s difficult to describe) it worked for me on 2 different 1990s radios. PS I recommend virus scanning it as you download it; I did and it s...

Re: Original rear speaker cable location...

If you've not already done it you'll find that if you use the central consol (take it out; nut under the rear ashtray) you only have to thread a short section of about 3" under the carpet from under the ashtray between the seats to the bulkhead under the rear bench and it's really easy once the cons...

Accessory Panel behind glovebox

It has been said here that the 2 connections on the top right are looped together and are for an ignition immobiliser. On my 1992 cab there is a proper plug with harness wires that lead off somewhere behind the central dash (haven't yet traced them). Is this likely to be a prior burglar alarm fittin...

Re: Cruise Control clutch switch

I have the BMW parts for the clutch switch bracket but can't figure out how they go so am living without it. A magnetic switch sounds a good practical solution but I do like to have original kit. Will ANYone rise to the challenge of posting a decent photo so we can all see where the factory parts we...

Re: Water in footwell+under rear passenger seat... Help!

if it's a saloon check the fixing of the gutter to the body above ad at the rear of the rear windows. One of mine had the situation where the plastic tab that the gutter pops into was split allowing gutter water to flow into the car where from it ran down to pool under the rear carpet footwell.

I don’t know where the oil cooler on the saloon goes but the cabbie one is the lowest point. When my car was new I ripped the oil cooler off its brackets on a bump I hadn’t seen. If you’re still uncertain let me know and I’ll send a pic (assuming the dealer who fixed it in 1993 put it back in the ri...

Re: Factory fitted alarm

Can anyone tell me exactly where in the back of the glove box the factory fit alarm actually went? I'm fitting an alarm to provide the keyless entry feature I can’t live without and would like to replicate the factory arrangement as far as possible. Above the glovebox? On the bulkhead? To the side? ...

Re: Cloudy window in cab

I confirm the cost suggested for a BMW replacement zip in is about right. It's a difficult job to do, though, and you must tackle it on a warm day as it makes everything so much more workable. If you can't wait warm the window on a moderate radiator. The problem is that to get the window wrinkle-fre...

Re: Crusie Control Clutch Switch Fitting

Do you have to remove anything to fit it?

This hole and indent - what piece of metal are they in?

If you're saying the bracket is above the brake pedal then I presume the switch aligns to the left of the bracket if it's over the clutch pedal?

Thanks

Crusie Control Clutch Switch Fitting

I never worked out where to attach the bracket when I fitted the cruise control last year and now I want to finish the job off properly.

Can anyone have a go at describing for me exactly where it goes? If anyone could be fagged to snap a photo that'd be really useful for me and others.

Thanks

Re: H&R Springs which Dampers?

I recently had the H&R cup kit fitted to a 325 cab and am not very happy with the ride. The H&R dampers give very springy —a or jiggly as Ant described it —a ride. As you drive even a straight road you seem to chop and bounce over the ridges and potholes in an unnaturally springy way. I'm ...

Re: OBC malfunction - a tricky one

I don't want to upset orangecurrie who seems a very scholarly gent with his pipe —a and he's not far away in West Sussex so might come round and put the boot in, but the innards of the OBC do disassemble rather neatly and easily. However you can only replace the keys with the front panel intact...

Re: digital to analogue...

You have to have the backet which goes between the clock and the panel. Impossible to improvise this. The OBC, being much bigger, fills the space itself and doesn't need this bracket.

I vaguely remember that the 316, not being fuel injection, didn't have the right electronics/sensors to drive the OBC but the 318i did.

Someone more knowledgeable will be along shortly to confirm or demolish this.
