Re: Radiator is spitting coolant :-(
Do you mean where the semi see through bit joins the black plastic? cheers for your help guys, the leak isn't coming directly out of the bottom of the header tank, it looks like it's coming out more towards the bottom right of it (where it sits next to the rad). Tomorrow I'll try and take a pic of ...

Re: Radiator is spitting coolant :-(
yea i checked those things buddy but still no luck. Is a pain in the arse considering how new the existing radiator is. could it be anything to do with my head gasket? I was already concerned about the head gasket lately due to the amount of "mayonnaise" that's been appearing all the time despite th...

Re: Radiator is spitting coolant :-(
oops, really should have rephrased that. I meant to say that I regularly check the fluid levels and the coolant was just topped up last week (not changed) ! sorry for the confusion.
Any more ideas?

Radiator is spitting coolant :-(
hi there, I wondered if i could ask some advice. A few days ago i noticed my temperature gauge went sky high on my 318i m40 so i checked the coolant and there was none there even though it was changed last week. I topped up the coolant yesterday and checked it today and it had all gone!So I then top...

Re: how long would it take to die in an e30....
I lost control in my e30 in the wet once when i had crappy tires on it, the car span right round and hit the driver's side front panel at about 30 mph.
it was crumpled but i just bought a new one and screwed it on, then had it resprayed and it looks as good as new.
very strong car!

Re: Anyone else get stuck?! i did =(
I had a slidy journey all the way to work. out it in second gear a lot for low speeds and it kicked the tail out everywhere. due to the traffic and the fact the car was so slippy it was undriveable I did a 3 point turn which turned into a mini dohnut then ended up walking into work. RWD is interesti...

my M40 1.8 does the same thing so it seems you're not alone. Mine hunts around between 600rpm and 800rpm at tick over and feels like it's going to stall
think it may be AFM too

The police are a bit harsh in that area. I got a caution there just for cycling fast on the icy high street with no lights.....sods made me walk back 2 miles
good job they didn't breathalise me although i'm not sure if it's illegal to cycle when you're over the limit

Re: help please... head gasket
Keep an eye on the coolant level. If it doesn't use water, then the mayo can only be condensation. When the car uses water and appears to make oil is the time to worry! great thanks, I've been checking the coolant levels frequently along with the dipstick etc and it's not going down so I guess it c...

btw, forgot to ask. If my worst fears are true and the dreaded mayonnaise rears its ugly head again indicating my head gasket might be on its way out, would the engine be on its last legs failing a new cylinder head etc....?

and it's always driven nicely Here's the problem! Engines need to be thrashed from time to time. There's no worries about that  I should've rephrased it a bit though. I meant I look after the engine quite well so I drive it smoothly and I don't rev it until the engines warmed up properly. ...

hi, I was planning on a 240 mile round trip from Bucks to Canterbury this weekend so i thought I'd check my levels before the trip... Unfortunately I was more than a little surprised when i checked the dipstick and saw the dreaded mayo substance on there. The car's a 318i M40 with 125k miles o...

Re: michelin or pirelli tyres...
I've had my car around a year now (318i with 14" bbs) and the car had unknown brand tires on it (Roadrunner and Monza) really can't remember. Anyway, the tread was very high on them so i kept them on the car for months. They were always reasonable in the dry although the steering always felt extreme...

This nut is NOT an idle adjustment. It only has one correct position, and that's where BMW set it. DO NOT ADJUST THIS NUT!! oops I stand corrected. I kept mine at the same setting it was but it seems to adjust the idling speed (by tightening/loosening the throttle cable). Why is there only 1 settin...

318i1989 i presume your young lad. as said above, chips and cams will only give minor gains + 9 bhp, pointless in the long run. if you want to gain respect at college then bring your car to ants place yep am fairly young but i'm not at college. Either way I like the sound of having it tuned to high...

maximum tuning potential of an m40 318i?
hi I was just wondering if anyone has done any extensive tuning on their 318i M40 engine before, how much it cost and what power gains it got you? I've heard that they can't be tuned too much and people are reluctant due to the engines' top end wear problems By the way, I've no intention of tuning m...

Re: HELP please, my 318i is running rough
hi there, I had some problems recently with my 318i running rough and I suspected it was due to the distributor cap / HT leads etc but it turned out to be to do with my throttle body. my E30 keeps stalling!
Hi there, I've started my car today to expect the usual trouble free motoring I've had over the past year and I was surprised that just after I started the car it stalled. I restarted with a few more revs and it stalled again as soon as I let go of the accelerator. I though I'd leave the car for a f...

I agree with you jonmsm about skipping the 325 conversion. It would be easier keeping it as it is seen as it runs nicely anyway and i'm a strong believer in "if it aint broke don't fix it".
