318iS not starting...

I went out to my car this morning, and jumped in to start the engine before scraping the ice off the windows, and it didn't start! Last night it felt a bit sluggish to start after not driving for a couple of days - had to turn over more than usual, and tbh it's started feeling a little slow to start...

Re: Mileage

209,000 on my iS though i'm feeling it could be weakening now - maybe i should change the spark plugs, they've been in there for the last 3.5 years...

Main niggles though are not the engine, but the rattles that eminate from both doors every time i go over a slight bump :?

you will probably need the car jacked up. Make sure the car engine is cool or you might burn your hands. Do the reverse of this and all will be well :) so true.... if you jack the car up it won't drain properly as the bung is the lowest point when the car is level, and warm oil flows mo...

Remembered about this topic when i left London today to head home and had already done 350 miles since i last filled up so i thought i'd see just how far i could go til the light came on... OBC could be set to US gallons instead of UK. I think 23-30 is about the right difference for that to be the case... To change it, set the OBC to show consumption and press the tiny indented button in the bottom right of the OBC. It'll change from L/100 (litres per 100 km which is european - also se...

If it is the cam chain, it'll be between approx 2500-3500rpm and sound like a wee little chainsaw in your engine. Could be fixed with a new timing chain tensioner which is very very easy to do. Might need a new chain guide which is more of a pain and involves taking the timing chain cover off. Eithe...

tbh i'd stop if it was convenient if i saw another e30 broken down! Bugger!

Better start looking hard for a new engine then i guess! I presume the excess fuel would be from overfueling due to the engine being cold? Don't know a lot about engines - what does it mean in practical terms that the cylinder bores and rings are worn?

BTW, the noise is no more than an annoyance really - it doesn't make any measurable difference to power, and doesn't indicate impending failure - the chain is supposed to be a lifetime part AFAIK. That's why i haven't bothered fixing mine... It's just a bit embarressing when accelerating - makes it...
