Re: call me mad - m57 swap possible?

hmm lpg :?

I do fancy a nice 6-pot diesel. Good honest engine. Bit of torque. The 2.5 tds ( with IC for the 150 bhp) would make a cheapish first bash at it. Did the Omegas only have the 135~ish bhp engines then?

Re: call me mad - m57 swap possible?

a 200 hp 2.0 sounds sensible, though the 2.0 engines are few and far between at a decent price... The old 2.5 tds is another possibility, far cheaper engine; 150 hp stock and only <40 mpg though... I don't want to even think about the cost of putting one together though, even if you budget £1k+ fo...

>Much lighter and still 200bhp 280lb/ft after a remap

It'll chip up to 200?! :)

With the chassis weight down, you could be looking at 60 mpg on a run too, with better performance than 325

call me mad - m57 swap possible?

I was talking through the ideal car the other night, and we came up with fast & economical. Hmm.

So will this : http://tinyurl.com/p2v7s shoehorn into an E30?

And would it handle the front-end weight if it did?

Thanks folks. I bought Zayyan's Haynes anyway, and will doubtless get cross with that shortly and buy the Bentley too (if my previous highly negative Haynes experiences is anything to go by.. Anyone remember the Fiat 127?...) Appreciate all the input.. @Gwynleym10 - I certainly intend to use the zon...

I ended up getting a load work done by Colin Bix up at Pott Row (near Kings Lynn) 01553 630084

Sound job as far as I can tell, 30 quid an hour labour :)

Cheers,
Alex

PS he had an E30 M3 in there too, mint as the day it was born. 16K on the clock. Lovely motor..

Nearly 100% price difference!

For info:

Bensen in St Ives ( http://www.benstenmotorsbmw.co.uk/ ) ..quoted me £142.33 for the belt change. They have good feedback on the Unix Nerd's review ( http://www.unixnerd.demon.co.uk/garages_seng.html ) so I think I'll give them a try.

Cheers,
Alex

Thanks Andrew.

They're quoting £275 all-in for a belt change. Sounds a bit much to me..?
Anyone know the going rate for these nowadays?

Alex

Recommend a good independent garage in Cambs. Pls?

Hi,

I've just bought a 320 which needs a new belt quickly, and a few other bits and bobs.

Could anyone recommend a good independent around the Cambridge / Ely / Newmarket type area?

Thanks in advance...

Alex
