Re:
I've actually not long received a mail from Kevin confirming the above, so looks like my best option will be to supply a 2.93 and get him to carry out the conversion. Not cheap, but the way ahead I think. I'll just need to see if I can shift the 3.38 at some point, maybe to someone with an auto E46....

I was under the impression that I couldn't put the internals from my Quaife into a 2.93 diff ? I.E, the current internals will only fit a 3.15 or higher. Or have I been mis-informed ? If I can do this, then that changes my plans significantly. I really want to stick with a Quaife now that I've taste...

Thanks mate, I've a few options with the diff, one being the possibility of a lad in Hungary building me one for £850 delivered ! I'm just concerned about the ferocity of the lock up on it. The Quaife is so predictable, as you'll well know. But yes, I may take you up on that offer if I decide to get...

Should be good shocks and topmounts on the rear Mike. If they we're shot, I'd expect to hear banging as opposed to creaking. I know that the droplinks weren't looking the newest, so that's my guess old chap....

Si. I feel the same re the 5 series forum. It's not as bad as e36.com but it's very quiet. You'd have thought that there would have been at least one person who'd changed a wiper motor on an e39 :? I used to know a couple of the founders of e36.com Kul and Russell. I'm with you there. I stuck a pos...

Re: Trimbrite black out tape. Stockists ?
Is that known as being the best brand or something? Found this one otherwise... http://www.voguebmw.co.uk/proddetail.asp?prod=kuw090 Spot on Ziggy, that'll do fine !! I'm unsure if Trimbrite is the best brand, but it's what Total BMW used for their E39 project. It seemed to work well.. Thanks again...

Trimbrite black out tape. Stockists ?
Chaps,
I'm looking for a roll of Trimbrite black out tape, which is tape that is used to conceal chrome / faded door and window trim.
I'm struggling to find a supplier in the UK and wondered if anybody knows where to get it from please ?
Many thanks,
George

The groaning noise i described is the wrong description. :o: On closer inspection its more of a shuffling noise. Are you sure that the noise is coming from the diff Mike ? Hi, im getting a groaning type noise at very low speeds from the diff. Quite evident when turning. Is this normal for a bmw lsd? Had an lsd before but on a different marque and never heard anything. Mike, I'm assuming that this noise is coming from the car that you just bought from me.. The diff ca...

Chip, Big bore throttle body and a nice aggressive cam. Should perk up the old girl just fine.
Have you considered giving it a good service and adjusting the valve clearences ? This could give the engine a good key for modifications..

I'd like to replace the offside door and wing shadowline trim mouldings on my 530 sport, and wondered where would be the best place to buy them from ?
Many thanks,

I'm having a problem with the starting on my 325i. It cranks fine, catches and then dies. This happens 3 - 4 times before she starts. Once started, the idle is spot on and the running is perfect. The battery is fine and shows good voltage at idle. I've replaced the fuel filter and AFM since the prob...

There is no benefit in letting a car warm up under idle conditions.

Re: Car's not moved for weeks, will idling it do harm or goo
As above.. Remove the battery, move the car forward / back half a wheel turn every week to avoid flat spots on the tyres, and don't start her up and let her idle. Most engine damage occours under idle, so you'll be doing the car no good at all. Your car will be fine for months without starting the e...

It's dependant on wether you want to keep the originallity of the 323i. If she's a keeper, drop a 2.5 ( or 2.7 ) into her and enjoy the extra power. If you're planning on selling it in the future, and believe that an original 323i will command a higher premium than a modified E30 with a sprightly he...
