Releasing the heat

Anyone with a v8 conversion have any good ideas of releasing heat from under the bonnet without using louvres? I took a 5 hour round trip from east to west and back again on Sunday. I had things to do further afield so used the opportunity to get my first long distance run in the newly swapped motor...

Re: fuel pump q

Thanks beemerbird. It's just one of those parts where the term 'known good second hand' doesn't sit well with me. Cheers tho.

So nobody know of any other places where I can get one other than online, ECP & GFS?

fuel pump q

Anybody know where I can get a fuel pump other than Euro Car Parts or GFS? ECP have been a pain in the ass over the last couple of days. I traveled to wembley 2ice to get one and after a lot of confusion the one they said was showing as in stock they were unable to find. Cost me 4 hrs in travel time.

Re: Where to buy oem

Can understand that as an individual seller but as a large company it's not the norm these days. If Eurocarparts and GF&S can do it amongst others I fail to see why an official BMW retailer cannot do the same. It's made all the more frustrating because when you ask the staff their best answer is 'I ...

Re: Where to buy oem

I don't give a monkeys. When i've ordered from eurocarparts. they take my order and I go and pick up same day or next if they don't have it in store but at least they order it in no matter how big or small. It's obviously a calculated move but i can only see Sytner losing out to such companies with ...

Where to buy oem

Have just come off the phone with Sytner and they say that it's BMW policy not to have an over the phone payment method so I'd have to go in person to order ANYTHING. Anyone confirm if this is true. I'm only after a few rubber seals godammit but they're not available in any old hardware store. If yo...

Re: quick q

You f*cking star. I've just gone out to a Halfords on the other side of the Blackwall tunnel and the f*ckers shut for the whole weekend. Has taken an hour to turn around and get back home from what is literally a 5 minute drive.

Cheers, i'm off to Ilford.

Anyone on line know where I can buy a flare nut wrench (11mm)
Screwfix don't sell them, euro car parts have to order them for Tuesday and none of my nearest Halfords have got them in stock. I can't think of any other automotive type chain stores. Oh, I did try b&q too but they didn't have either. :)

Refurbing calipers

Doing some rust removal on my calipers as I want to paint them and they're tired looking but I might have messed up. I pulled out one of the pistons from it's housing as the head (the bit that makes contact with the back of the break pad) was pretty caked in rust. I left the entire piston in solutio...

Anybody know of anyone with one of these fitted to their V8 conversion? I wanted to know if there are any modifications needed to get it under the hood.

Re: Speedo conversion for modified e30's

Not too sure mate. I'll park that thought until I get the Sat Nav out with me then I can confirm if it is constant. I just read it on another thread so it's not mine. Regarding the tyres Theo, you'll have to explain to me how come making the tyre wider (205/45/16 vs 225/45/16) affects the speedo. I ...

Re: Speedo conversion for modified e30's

Thanks Theo. I've just read that the difference in speed varies throuout the rev range. That is to say I might be 5mph out at say 45mph but this inaccuracy becomes more pronnounced the faster the car travels. Wouldn't this make relocating the needle an incomplete solution? If so, and going by the ty...

I have a Sat Nav so i'll check out my speedo against that and take it from there. Other than the effort required to get to the needle I like the sound of plan b.

Speedo conversion for modified e30's

Hey, thought i'd ask here first before trawling the rest of the web. I've an e34 540i engine in my e30 and the speedo is quite out, I assume it's something to do with it not being calibrated for that engine although that might not be the right terminology. Does anyone know what would need to be done...

Hi all. Do all v8 conversions make use of the e34 electric fan with a manually operated switch for the cooling system? Quick q.
Anybody know which company(s) make good kits.
What should the price be for said kit.
Garages which fit them (unless it's a case that any garage can do the job provided the kit is good)

Thanks.
