Some great work there and amazing results. Congrats and thanks for sharing. What paint did you use on the aluminium? I thinking of paint as well, just for the durability. Thanks for the kind words! The paint i use is 'Simoniz Enamel Matt Aluminium Engine Enamel Car Spray Paint Aerosol 500ml' https:...

I would not be surprised if there was due to the block height - it's for an M5x correct (and fits) I gave Fritz bitz an email as I know this is mentioned in different threads with no definite answer The reply was Ok, this is the way it works – The M50/M52 manifold set is slightly different from the...

Re: Spurious Wings
I bought brand new BMW wings for my last E30. The guy working on the car was adamant they were pattern parts - only thing that finally convinced him was the sticker on the inside - I'd bought them from a main dealer too, so it wasn't some dodgy eBayer misadvertising. According to him, BMW were now ...

Spurious Wings
Hi, I am looking at replacing my drivers side wing. I know BMW wings used to be by far the best fit, but more recently people seem to complain about the fit due to old tooling etc. So due to the cost and possible fitment issues, I was wondering if there are any good spurious wing manufacturers. Or a...

I believe there is a difference between the M50 and S50 systems. Do you know if that is correct? From the picture, I'm assuming its for an M50

Re: 318is cutting out.
I tried to spray carb cleaner around but didn't notice any. I got rid of a lot of the excess pipes when I removed the heater plate. Fitted some new pipes too so not impossible but unlikely but will check again.
May check the afm too.

Thanks for the reply Brian. I forgot to mention that I have changed the blue temp sensor with a new one as well. I did check it though with the engine cool but not fully cold, 900 ohms. Bypassed the dme relay, no difference. I got a spare used crankshaft sensor from my brother. 500 ohms across the p...

jmc330i: That's that I would have thought. But wondered if it was more a necessity or a recommendation.
He is looking for a cheap a cheerful replacement so, I am not sure it that is possible when he might have to get shorter shocks.

Re: Replacement Key and Keyfob
What does your remote look like? Is it a black fob with one button in the centre. Like a rectangle with the corner cut off? If so, you can pick u a second hand one and reprogramming it to match your buy re-soldering in your code to the spare one.

Anti rattle clips
Are there anti rattle clips on the front breaks of E30s. I thought there there were some on my 318is but currently the have disappeared or fell off. Re: Best Engine Swap for an 320 e30 to be used for Drifting
You currently have an M20B20. I would not dream of turboing that. the cost per bhp would be way too high. The M20B25 is the 2.5 variant of you engine and was used in the 325. That is a fairly straight swap and gives about 170bhp. The M52 was found in the never 3 series (E36 the one after our e30s) a...

Depends on your budget. M52/s50/S38/S54 or S62
The more money you want to spend the better engine you can get

I have heard that the manifold they sell for tha S50 conversion is not adequate. The bore size of the pipes is too small and can cause runing issues like overheating. Can anyone confirm this?

Found a small leak on the exhaust manifold at cylinder 1. The is a spare e36 m42 manifold here so going to try and swap them. Does anyone know if it will definitely fit? Looks like it should. Thanks. There is 158k miles on it so is probably due anyway. Head was replaced at 128k by the previous owner but don't know if the timing gear was replaced also. Manifold seems fine. Might order a tensioner and see how that goes.

M42 noise
My M42 suddenly started to make the strange 'tractor' or diesel engine sound generally assoicated with the timing chain. However this noise is only produced below 2500 rpm. From reading other posts about this topic the noise seems to appear around 3000 - 3500 rpm. Is there something else it could be...
