I do the wey navigation out of Godalming most years for a 4 dayer with mates. Take a narrow boat to weybridge and back. Good relaxing p1ss up. Been doing it for years. See a lot of these sort of cruises on the broads, they are usually going round in circles wearing pirate outfits....the one's crewed...

That's a 'Neon Design Motorsport Cabriolet',to give the thing it's full name.It would have left the factory with a 1.8 M40 4 cylinder engine and a cloth interior in 'motorsport' style, that's where the blue piping idea has come from. Now it all depends on one's personal viewpoint as to what modified ...

Re: seat belt not retracting
The retracting mech works by a ball bearing moving in the base of the reel holder, when you brake, the ball rolls forward and jams the reel. So your balls are stuck.... Check that the reel is mounted correctly,if it's tipped forward or back the ball will not drop free of the reel. I've never tried dis...

The one piece seal is,perhaps, easier to fit and looks a little neater when installed.
These must have been re-manufactured,I paid a lot less than those prices last time I bought a seal!

Never owned an auto E30,but my dad had a couple when they were reasonably new...
His grumble with the auto 'box was that it would not 'lock up' into 4th until a fairish road speed was reached, something like 60/65mph was needed,is this the general experience of others with these 'boxes?

Re: Imobilizer wires on 13 button obc
What Barry is trying to say is that the solid green wire is spilt behind the glovebox...
A plug may be still present, but if it's gone AWOL,a suitable replacement can soon be made up.
The green wire,as you will already know,is the feed from the ign switch to the coil.

Re: 320i Wheel bearing Sizes
Is a tool really needed? A new bearing should slide on easy enough, maybe with some gentle persuasion from the 36mm socket (I think it's 36mm that presses on the inner race) and a wooden mallet to get it pressed on far enough to use the hub nut to wind it home. That's the way I have always done 'em...

So the cam is not badly worn, could be that the lifters are draining oil and until they have re-filled themselves the valve gear will rattle a bit.

Re: Engine Mayo :(
Don't bin the cracked head as they can be repaired. You need to get them up to temp before they can be welded for the crack to open up. That's why a cold pressure test won't always show a problem. The AMC copy cylinder heads are very good. They're made in Italy and I've never heard of one cracking....

If the engine fires immediately then the rail is retaining fuel pressure,so you have a supply problem.

Re: timing belt wont go back on
Some early M20 engines have a 'proper' distributor mounted under the front of the inlet manifold. It's driven via a jack shaft from the belt pulley just above the crank and a little to the n/s of the engine.(the lower part of this shaft drives the oil pump,BTW) Later engines use a h/t cap mounted on ...

Bear in mind that the H/T shell is fibreglass,so when the vinyl is peeled off it will bring lumps of this stuff with it.You,or your painter, will need to spend hours and hours filling and flatting back to get any kind of acceptable finish. The fan that you are looking for is on the engine side of the radiator and is surrounded by a plastic shroud.
