At the end of the day, a car is worth what someone wants to pay for it.
If its within your budget, cheaper insurance, tax and tested for a while, its cheap E30 motoring!!
Its a first step on the ladder, and as you say, in a couple of years you can move up.

Yep, I've just got all the paperwork together after the Christmas break, so I will be submitting an online claim this week. He'll have to pay all the costs of that as well, so he'll be out of pocket nearly double the original amount.

You still paid by paypal so you can still claim through paypal as Item not as described. Goto Paypal, dispute console, open dispute.
