Re: What E30 kit is this??
It's not that rare but not common I've got the Breyton kit on my 323i (currently in for sale section - shameless plug there), I chose it cos i'd had many e30's with the mtec kit and I fancied a change. Its quite understated whilst retaining a fat look. I didn't get on with the sideskirts though as ...

Washer jets won't stop
With the circuits on, my washer jets are continuosly spraying. I've changed the pump, without success, so is it likely to be the electrical connector or something in the windscreen washer stalk? Or something else?

Engine number
I know the engine number is near the base of the dipstick, but I can't see the bugger anywhere, unless its concealed by grime. Can anyone give me an exact location, or preferably a pic?

I looked over the exhaust and it doesn't seem to be that, and no it doesn't go away if I hold onto the gearstick. I've also noticed that its not there straight away when I drive the car in the morning, which is making me still think that gearbox oil might be involved as it'll be thicker in the cold....

The rev rattler
The rev rattler is an irritating creature that lives under my car and only comes out on hitting 300rpm. He tends to go home again after about 5000, but has been known to stay out later. The noise doesn't happen when sitting out of gear and revving so I'm guessing it must be gearbox related. I've che...

yeah that's what I've got on mine except I pulled out the injector rail and put the 320 one back in. The customer chip sounds interesting though, tried mine with the standard 325i ecu and it ran, but idled really low (but sounding really fat!). Popped the upgrade 320i chip I had back in and it went ...

My motronic 323 uses the full air intake system from a 325i, the original injectors from when it was a 2ltr, the ecu from a 325 but with the (super) chip from my 320 ecu. Other than that its the same as when it was a 320i. Its also got the exhaust system from a 325 but this type of 323 really needs ...

Sinking clutch pedal
I've noticed that if I rest my foot on the clutch it starts gently moving towards the bulkhead, then when I push it all the way in and release it, it goes back to standard operation. Resevoir hasn't lost any fluid and there doesn't seem to be any leaks, so is it more likely to be the slave or master...

I knew it, changed one sides discs fine, got to the last one and that damn stupid irritating locater screw has rounded itself off. Has anyone got any magic tips or is it a case of drilling it out?

Mystery spout
Just left of the rocker cover, in the bulkhead, is a little rubber/plastic spout which points down at the floor. Does anyone know what its for? I've just knocked mine off whilst tightening a nut on the rocker cover, and it won't clip back on as the angle's awkward. I must admit, its so subtle that I...

short shift
I'm about to fit a short shifter to my 323i, and as it started off life as a 320i it obviously has the 320i propshaft and I've heard that bending of the selector rod isn't necessary as its a different size than the 325i propshaft. Is this true or should I just bend it anyway?

My god, didn't expect so many views! Its no big secret, 323i bottom end (reconditioned in my case), 325i inlet manifold/throttle body/AFM. Tried first with a 325i ecu, ran fine but idled low, so put my 320i stage 1 'racing' chip in it which now makes it run super sweet. Power gains are a lot more th...

I can't give too much away as the whole thing was perfected by a friend in the business, so not sure if he'd be too keen if he's the first to do it. Involves a 323i bottom end and some 325i bits. Unbelievable amounts of torque and has halved the petrol consumption I used to do when it was 2ltrs - an...

I'm in the Burpham area, alas Wednesday's are always a no-fly zone for me. If you spot a white 320i with the Breyton body-kit and (temporarily) some paint missing from the rear bumper where Captain Special rubbed my car. If the driver's got dreadlock's its me, otherwise someone's half-inched it so P...

323i chip
I'm dropping the 323i lump into my 320i soon, and was wondering if I could just chip my existing ecu, or does the whole brain have to be changed?

Anyone put a 2.3 bottom end in a 2ltr before? I've got an opportunity to, and was just wondering if I needed anything apart from the actual lump and the ECU (apart from any gaskets of course).

Compression variation
Just had my 320i tuned before going on the rolling road and the compression test after adjusting the valve clearances was a bit odd. Running from 1 - 6 the readings were 155, 140, 150, 141, 129 and 150. These are all a bit lower than expected, especially number 5. Anyone got any ideas as what might ...

I know a lot of people don't rate boost valves, but after I did the throttle body conversion and put the car on a rolling road they tweaked it to match the increased air flow and now it runs even better, with a vast improvement to mpg and no emissions MOT failures. Do your valve clearances as well i...

Cheers mate, will try the reversal in the morning and hope the knocking goes. I'll be at sqaure one with the high idle though if anyone has any theories. Checked the TPS and thats functioning fine, may just have to revert to the original throttle body and forgoe the power increase. Still there's alw...

Nope, idle is fine and revs fine, only seems to be in motion and defininately wasn't there before the bodge job. I'm really not too sure about the hoses on the right hand side (from bellows side) of the throttle body. They were both in use with the standard 320 body, and seem to be in some 325's I '...
