They're feckin' hopeless. Ordered some HB4 bulbs for my Compact. They sent the wrong ones. Contacted them, agreed to return them though for some odd reason they wanted a photo of said bulbs prior to collecting them (???). I did ask would an artist's impression suffice if I didn't have a camera? :D B...

Re: Opinions on my E30, is it worth resto or is it time to b
Loads of people knock me for running a 316 Baur auto which in the scheme of things e30 is about the most less disirable one around. But, I just love driving her as it is a different type of driving that my daily (330 ci sport) and it was never bought to be a concour example. I dont give a monkeys h...

Re: Advice please... E34 or not?
Do E34s still exist?? Can't remember the last time I saw one. Still see a few in Norfolk. Mainly 525i or V8 Tourings. I also regularly see a F plate Alpine White 520i that I posted on here a couple of years ago when it was for sale. It was practically mint with only 60K on the clock and I considere...

Late ones often came with metrics that most replace with 15" BBS.Satan wrote:Was the E34 the one with the odd sized wheels?

It's salvageable but will cost a lot of money. That is some pretty serious rust - parking a car up outside in the elements does it no favours unfortunately. New sills, arches, wings, rear valance and who knows what else? That is just the visible stuff. Difficult to tell the condition of the scuttle ...

And she's gone. The purchase of a near mint E46 Convertible meant one of the Compacts would now be surplus to requirements. Both have been fantastic cars but in the end I decided to keep the later 316i 'Pact. It's torquier engine means its a more relaxing and less "busy" drive than the 318ti. The 31...

My 316i Compact came with a pair of new Jinyu tyres on the rear. I had never heard of them so I done a bit research and they rated reasonably well on the fuel economy/wet handling/noise ratings. They're nice and quiet and have been perfectly ok for everyday driving. Can't say I've noticed anything t...

Re: think i need a new battery.
Check out Carparts4less as they sometimes have deals and are a part of ECP. Exactly the same company, always cheaper from personal experience and always have discount codes. I've had no real problems with them until a recent drama with ordering, returning and refunding some HB4 headlight bulbs whic...

Blimey, long time since I've updated this. Well, the 318ti is still here and still providing effortless and trouble free motoring. I've covered 37000 miles in it now in just under 2.5 years and it's been a paragon of reliability considering its 22 years. Full service yesterday - fluids, filters and ...

318iS came with steels and a "special" wheel trim as standard. 14" alloys were standard fit on late 4 cylinder Lux models, late 320i SE models, 6 cylinder Tourings and Convertibles. 14" BBS were standard on late 325i SE models. 15" BBS were standard on 325i Sports though 14" or 15" BBS could be spec...

I wouldn't bother with Toyos. They wear too quick and frankly aren't all that. They were OK in the distant past when they were cheap but cost the same as everything else now. No thanks. I really liked Vredestein Sportracs on my old E30. I think mine were Sportrac 3s - quiet, lasted ages and were exc...

The 318ti has blotted it's copybook with the traditional Compact problem of a clanking driver's window. New regulator time no doubt. In other news I've purchased another one, this time a very late 316i on a 2000 X plate with the big bore 1895cc M43 donk and 105bhp of gristle. It actually drives surp...

They love a crank sensor but that normally results in a complete lack of go. Definitely a job to pay someone else to do - it's horrible. My old 318ci had a faulty coil pack that resulted in juddering but you've already replaced them. It was really bad at idle from what I recall. The N42 is just a ho...

MOT on Monday and this was reasonably painless. It failed originally due to the seatbelt locking mechanism being a bit temperamental. A quick strip down and a bit of WD40 had it back working perfectly. Other advisories included the brake pipes and the front tyres wearing on the inner edge. The brake...
