They're feckin' hopeless. Ordered some HB4 bulbs for my Compact. They sent the wrong ones. Contacted them, agreed to return them though for some odd reason they wanted a photo of said bulbs prior to collecting them (???). I did ask would an artist's impression suffice if I didn't have a camera? :D B...

99.9% sure that is Malcolm's as he moved to Norfolk a few years back. Pretty sure he's had it for sale previously - I remember it being on Car and Classic last year.

10w/40 Magnatec is perfectly adequate. Even the cheapest oils will likely be of a higher spec than when these cars were new.

However...

5w/40 full synthetic is far better and the default choice if you're happy to spend a little extra.

Loads of people knock me for running a 316 Baur auto which in the scheme of things e30 is about the most less disirable one around. But, I just love driving her as it is a different type of driving that my daily (330 ci sport) and it was never bought to be a concour example. I dont give a monkeys h...

Re: Advice please... E34 or not?

Do E34s still exist?? Can't remember the last time I saw one. Still see a few in Norfolk. Mainly 525i or V8 Tourings. I also regularly see a F plate Alpine White 520i that I posted on here a couple of years ago when it was for sale. It was practically mint with only 60K on the clock and I considere...

Late ones often came with metrics that most replace with 15" BBS.

It's salvageable but will cost a lot of money. That is some pretty serious rust - parking a car up outside in the elements does it no favours unfortunately. New sills, arches, wings, rear valance and who knows what else? That is just the visible stuff. Difficult to tell the condition of the scuttle ...

Ratch replaced the roof panel on his 318is many years ago and I'm sure it was documented on here in the members section. His original username was Royalratch but he had a variety of aliases over the years.

I purchased one of the above as per Mick's link. Decent quality and was shipped very quickly from Germany. I'd recommend giving them a further protective coat of something to keep rust at bay longterm.

And she's gone. The purchase of a near mint E46 Convertible meant one of the Compacts would now be surplus to requirements. Both have been fantastic cars but in the end I decided to keep the later 316i 'Pact. It's torquier engine means its a more relaxing and less "busy" drive than the 318ti. The 31...

They're nice and quiet and have been perfectly ok for everyday driving. Can't say I've noticed anything t...

The Uniroyals are a cracking tyre as our Vredestein Sportracs if you can find them. Falken's ZE914 is the best of the cheaper options - the stiffer sidewall helps the E30 chassis IMO. Had a set on my E30 and also on one of my Compacts and they last well.

The 318ti has blotted it's copybook with the traditional Compact problem of a clanking driver's window. New regulator time no doubt. In other news I've purchased another one, this time a very late 316i on a 2000 X plate with the big bore 1895cc M43 donk and 105bhp of gristle. It actually drives surp...

A quick strip down and a bit of WD40 had it back working perfectly. Other advisories included the brake pipes and the front tyres wearing on the inner edge. The brake...
