idle problems in morning

the last two days in the morning the m20 2.5 has been a bit rough it idles a bit high and drops when you press the throttle and sort of splutters till you get to 2000 rpm and its better, only lasts about 5 mins worth of driving and its fine could it be the idle control valve any help cheers

i had this problem with mine, although it was an m40. i assumed it was just an old car, taking a while to warm up, but if it has just started to happen on yours id be interested to find out what the cause is.

blue temp switch mate ! it tells the ecu the engine is cold and givves the correct amount of fuel :D

you have got 2 plungs/switches on the thermostat housing mate... follow you rads top house.. on switch is brown, the other is blue... they are screwed into the thermostat housing with a 19mm spanner.. make sure the engine is cold when you unscrew it. :D

blingsta you was spot on mate i disconnected the blue plug while it was running and it settled down smooth off to bmw now cheers mate :D

where is that on the m40 316 engine? Mine has exactly the same symptoms, rough idle for 5-10 mins and running rich.
