its part 4 we are having the problem with. its lifting from the body when part 18 is turning, it looks like part 4 is damaged in some way and wont stay connected to te body? hope this makes it a bit clearer. i will get a photo on this afternoon

I thought so

this might make things clearer

http://www.e30ic.com/powertop.htm

the motor costs about £400 ...if they are still available, but the answer is The E30 centre in Darlaston...jason (the no is 07871 662 902 jason 07968 852395 bill )there will supply a new cast steel top half of the motor which is stronger than the original (about £100)...it could be that the bars are bent as well which are available from the dealers (try zimmerbimmer1) on this forum. When you have it fixed give your roof a service before you use it ...it loosens everything up...pm me an email address and i will send you a guide

hope this helps

Give the E30 center a call, I had the very same happen to my 325, I took it to the lads in Darlaston and No trouble since. (I had to bring mine from Ireland) They come highly re-commended.

Hope you get it sorted soon, it'll be time to be dropping the top in a few months.
