Which Zoners E30 would do well in a hill climb? who's done one / thinking of one...?

Love to see some spec's of cars M3's, 325's, 318is - ideas and thoughts on what would work and ideas on engine, tyre options etc..

Fire away... :D

Big bhp - high torque - excellent traction - lightening quick, neutral handling ......... That would be the best. But then I guess I have just described the ideal car for any motorsport.

As far as E30's go I reckon an M3 or even a 318is would fair better than any 6pot even if power was cranked up with a turbo or supercharger so the 325i for example and M3 were on even power to weight.

I'm a 6pot man myself so its not something I like to admit to!

I reckon tho a supercharged 318is, stripped out, with the usual suspension refinements, and the weight balance moved to favour the rear (for example battery relocation to boot, cf bonnet) also maybe wider track tyres at the rear (possibly 8j), but normal at the front and an lsd would tare arse it up a hill.
325i Tech 1 Touring, breaking.

2.5 high comp. M20, 3.64 LSD, Fully undersealed, Spax springs & Bilstein shocks, s/s exhaust, Alpina rep wheels and more.

Im hoping to be using my 'is in hill climbs and sprints this year. Budget and the need to use the car as daily transport has lead to me doing feck all in the way of mods. Not planning on being competative, just want some fun.

This looks the ticket

I think most Zoners would enjoy a hill climb but perhaps not pushing it as much

Ideal E30 for UK hillclimbs would be 318 based. Anything over 2 litres puts you in the same classes as Evos and Imprezas and you don't stand a chance of winning the class (or coming anythign other than last, realistically).

Tari look at Agent006's post, the car has to be under 2000cc to compete in that class, M3 would be 2.3 or 2.5!

BUT I just can't leave the sound of a 6 pot behind!!!

Cheers boys for the comments and thoughts...Any takers - still time for April 17th, 18th and 19th??

I'm running my E30 325 which sounds the dogs with no boxs to reduce the noise of the 6 pot - so it's a great sound :D

I'm sure I could get the car lighter but budget has to come into it, last year one guy spent £3500 on his turbo 8O

Going up the Slock hill..
