i had to sleep in the back of my 4dr saloon a while back which was sheer fucking agony!, no way to get comfortable in the front or back, back seat is too narrow and you have to fold your legs and the fronts are hard and dont recline enough

i was wondering if tourings rear folding seats are flat and sleepable in the back as i like going to festivals in the summer, i hate tents and vw campers are slow hippy wagons so quite fancy a specced up 6cyl beemerwagon

they are flat and it would be fine if you are a midget.

No probs. I'm 6ft 1" and fit comfortably lying down with the rear seats down. I HAD to do this after picking up my old touring from Sheffield and driving through the night to Caithness. Got as far as Perthshire before tiredness really kicked in...

Yep! I'm 6' and slept in the back curled up with the luggage cover pulled closed; the house next to my flat had caught fire and everyone was evacuated. Not the most comfortable night, but memorable.

RE^ Haha, I bet. The Jones' would have minded a 17 year old BMW that night.

Friend trailers is race car with his 25 touring all the time to race meetings and has a grand sleep in the back.
Think he's about 5' 8.
Only thing that annoyed him is the slight step (1 or 2inches) between the bootfloor and folded flat seats.

I find the sport seats reclined all the way back in the iS perfectly bareable though.
The velour interior in my old 316 was alot worse since the seats didn't recline as much

Ask Munky, according the the official census his address IS a Touring. It's even got a letter box. :D

You're not going to be comfy at all. I need an E32 and a duvet to get any kip and you'd be better off in the front with the backrest wound all the way back.

Put the back seats down and lob a sleeping bag in there; you'll be cosy alright! Guess it depends on how tall you are though................;)

As a side note, when I moved to France my touring was packed to the roof with my stuff. I traveled from London to SW France on a full tank of petrol with that heavy load; it was perfect. The only drawback with actuallu using an E30 touring to actually carry stuff is the way the rear lights get in the way when your laoding up. My moutain bike took a big chip of paint off! :(

get a front seat from a 2 door.

Fold it forward.

Unclip the base of the rear bench.

clip it in the wrong way round so it folds forward with the padded side up (and rests against the folded front seat)

Fold down the back.

Inflate airbed.

Put cushion on the back of the folded front seat.

sleep.

Job jobbed.

Tints and locked doors are advised.
