Ok guys bleeding now underway, 325i m20. using the coke bottle method, and shes taken in the full 2ltrs took awhile though, lots of pipe squeezing but at the moment my radiator isnt a constant heat across its width, its redders on the nearside and warm on the offside, also the bottom hose off the radiator doesnt seem to getting hot, although the top hose is redders off the stat, the one off the side of the stat is warm getting hotter but nowhere near as hot as the top hose, brand new stat by the way, the temp gauge is sitting just above half way at the moment, i reckon ive still got some more squeezing to do what do you reckon.

open the bleed screw on the top of the stat, fill the expansion bottle up, kink the overflow tube with your hand and blow into the bottle until you either get fluid out of the bleed or the bottle is empty, this takes me about 10mins to do

Coke bottle method is when you fill up expansion tank then fill up a coke bottle and turn it upside down into the expansion tank, by squeezing the coolant pipes you will expell air from the system and allow water to replace the air, its good cos you can see the air leave the system, although my coke bottle has lost its shape so wont make a nice tightfit in the expansion tank neck.

Blitz I guess you do this method when shes cold, im havin a right nightmare at the moment, done the coke bottle way (read last reply) I still seem to have air in the system, I opened up the bleed screw to help and all I got out was a little fluid with some bubbles, I left the expansion tank lid off this started to rise and overflow and all I got out of the bleed screw was a jet of steam, I checked my temp gauge and it was nearlyon the red so ive turned her off and just topped up the cooant for now before I get moree insperation from here.

ok then mate will give that a go guess the missus is going to have a laugh at the lovely round mark around my chops when im done but hopefully fingers crossed your method will work, so just to confirm, expansion tank cap off, bleed screw fully open, engine off and cool, kink overflow hose ( the one that allows coolant back into expansion tank at the neck) fill up tank, and blow until fluid is expelled from blled screw, top as required,
