does anyone know a company that does classic insurance on a 318is??

my main problem is i have my i.s as a summer car and i'm starting to think of selling it as my insurance is £370 per annum and tax not to far off £100 for 6 months!, how good are multicar poilicys??

i'm starting to think a wiser idea is to sell the i.s on and buy a mk1 cortina gt with a modded pre crossflow engine, i've been quoted £120 for a classic fully comp policy and tax is free, given that i'd pull a grand easy for my i.s with a full mot on it this is looking tempting! winkeye

One of the benifits of being an old git is cheaper insurance!! I have the Daimler on a classic policy arranged through Lancaster. One of the requirments is that I have use of another vehicle.Only proper, sensible advice to you younger gents is to take care and prove the insurers wrong and your premiums will fall.
Youth is wasted on the young.

On my Sport I'm on £900 per annum fully comp, with 1 years ncb, and I'm 24.

Try companies like 'Swiftcover' who deal online only, but it always depends on your location too

Fair enough but you can't use ncb on a classic policy and the IS is his second car.

TBH £300 isn't a bad price, thats what mine costs me fully comp, 5000 miles per year agreed value and all mods declared on my classic policy with lancaster.
325i Tech 1 Touring, breaking.

2.5 high comp. M20, 3.64 LSD, Fully undersealed, Spax springs & Bilstein shocks, s/s exhaust, Alpina rep wheels and more.

When I was 17 i got insured on the e30 for about 500 on my dads name. I tweeked everything in my policy though.
Over a grands excess.....
Car is garaged...........
declared it does under 1k miles a year when i actually do 12k........
I valued the car at 200, when it was actually worth 800........
One policy i even declared i was married

Its the little things that make a difference.

As for Bob_S though.................im impressed :)

Yeah I'm gonna start tweaking things I think hah. Will have a look at putting my dad on too. Maybe that will reduce it a little.

He can still be the main driver. Just adding a parent brings down the quote a lot.
I found out this recently, when looking for insurance for my 17 year old daughter. (Down, Max!)

Doesn't always work. It only worked for me in my first year, after that it cost to put my parents on my policy

Well I'm a student too! yay. I cant afford a damn 318 yet! heh, but yeah Mine is down to 1600 now, which, from 3000 isnt bad. It at least makes it feasible I guess.

it isnt just me, I was speaking to someone today and his insurance on a VW Beetle 1200 (original) is actually 2100 fully comp. When ya think about it, he's paying more for the insurance each month than the car is worth...
