any opinions on these tyres as i know there cheap, are they any good on a track or fast road usage?

fine for normal road use, don't think i'd like them getting to hot or to much abuse on a track though

^ very true, I run them on my winter wheels, good for fooling about on, but viscous breakaway with little warning, noisy as hell and generally poor "feel" when using them.

If I hadn't worn out eveything else, I'd not be using them but needs must...........

nankang no-grips have a pretty bad reputation, mate of mine use to use them on there cossies when they wanted to play as they were inexpensive to replace.

i did here that they had released a sport tyre which was a better one to get.

once i had some (dont laugh ) wanli's that were cheap, they had the yokohama avs style tread pattern, they gripped fairly well but were soft so wore quickly. i had them on an xr4i rwd 2.8 about 175 bhp they seemed fine on that whilst i had them. but may have just been lucky with them.

When i go to buy a car the presence of nankangs tell me the owner is tight and that if he skimps on tyres the chances are the rest of the car will be nasty . Not suprisingly they can often be found on 17" burger kings !

ive still got 2 nankangs on the front of my E39 235/40/18 ive not long replaced the rears as they had started to crack on the wall, been on my car over 2 year's and done about 18K mile's on them, the front's are fine .. still have about 4mm of tread and no sign of crack's .. they where/are " reinforced side wall's" the rear's only cracked due to my car being lowered and heavy with a slightly stepped out camber, they still had at least 4mm of tread on them, i never replaced them with nankangs though, i replaced them with a tyre that goodyear make (can't recall the name?) but they have exact same tread pattern as a goodyear from motor-way, but have a nice extended rim protecter.
i don't treat my E39 like a race car but i do push it along, on any road and not once in any weather condition's can i recall it wanting to let go ... they also leave a nice "black" print when you feel like being silly (doughnuts )
if they hadn't have cracked on the side i'd have used nankangs again, also if you buy one of these Tyre & Wheel package deal's, 9/10 time's they'll be fitted with nankangs

shit,dont fit them.i had some on my e34 and replaced them with kumho,s.still budget tyres but grip well wet and dry.nankangs will have you in a ditch sooner or later.

Nankang NS1 and NS2 are chalk and cheese, I've been using them for ages on various cars and the NS2's are fine. Independant tests rate them pretty well but people keep slating them. Thing is...most people buy them in 17" as they are cheap, and any 17" 40 aspect tyre is going to give hardly any warning of loss of traction, so the tyres get the blame. They might not be the best tyres available but they are still good value for money. NS1's are crap, granted. If you look at Mytyres test results and compare these to other major brands they compare favourably and I can't see that Mytyres would push a cheaper tyre over a premuim brand that could potentially earn them more profit. My opinion only, plus that of a few others I know who use these on E39 and other cars. Sure, for track use I wouldn't know (but soon will!) and the tests show that there may be some question of grip in wet conditions:D

Iv heard pretty bad things about nankangs from a lot of people.

Never scrimp on tyres, no matter how good your suspension/brakes are if your tyres are rubbish then its useless.

I would go for a set of toyo proxes, they are only 48quid for 15's!!

I got a set on last week and i must admit im very impressed with them. iv only had them on in the wet but the car feels much more stable than before when i had goodrich profiler z's which were pretty good. Car had avons on it when i got it and they were shite.

Nankang nevergrips, got them on mine (came with the car) and have to say I cant wear them out quick enough but they wont seem to die, I utterly hate driving with them, ive been doing 30 coming off a roundabout and lost it many a time, if your going to fit budget tyres (sorry but thats what they are) fit tornado accelera or hankook ventus, the accelera's have the rim protectors but the hankooks are a very grippy tyre. If I remember right the ventus are traction rated AA and temp rated A with treadwear at 280 I think? which in laymans terms means a soft compound grippy tyre thats not going to try and kill you when you get jolly round corners. The Tornados have similar ratings. I fit tyres all day amongst other things so i like to think I know what i'm on about.

ditchfinders indeed, had them on my old 1.1 fiesta and even that broke front traction in the wet doin no speed whatsoever, they suck, and IIRC the were NS2's. Used to let go in a sraight line as well, 1.1 fiesta getting em spinning in second in the wet = something wrong

All Nankang, Linglong, Vanli, Sunny, Sime and other crap tyres are... just crap tyres. Nothing more. If you are tight on budget but used but good tyres. It is your (and your friends) life. Shoud be quite important for you.
