Andyboy, wouldnt you say the market for old bmw,s is fairly limited anyway? Think most people who matt black there cars are doing it to "old bangers" anyway and are just covering up a host of blemishes. True the market is a niche one but look at Munkys, imo he actually made the car look better, and iirc he had plenty of offers for his.
Now if this was done to car with faultless gleaming bodywork that would be a different matter, but a sub £500 smoker, where,s the harm? Vive le difference.

It looks even better with the matt'd 9J Borbets
Satin black when done properly looks mint, I love it. If Munky didn't already have a matt/satin tourer, I'd have done mine already, but having 2 e30 tourers at TDSW the "same" colour would be a bit gay.
Harlequin is the matt back for 2008 ;) You heard it here first

ps, if anyone handy with photoshop fancies "harlequin'ing" this for me, I'd be very grateful

Ask Spadge if he's going to satin black any of his. I doubt it. The market for a nicely done E30 Touring with an M50 2.5 is fairly strong. Matt blacking it will result in a car worth £500 at most.gooner1 wrote:Andyboy, wouldnt you say the market for old bmw,s is fairly limited anyway?
Put it this way - I'm not matt/satin blacking mine. It would just be a really dumb thing to do to a half tidy looking car and sorry, but I don't need the attention from other road users or the psuedo 'respect', innit?
But you guys go ahead and fuck your cars up, we'll stand back and laugh.............

Indeed you did. But if you can buy an MOT'd E30 Touring and do a complete M50 conversion for £500 all in, I am all ears.gooner1 wrote:

Here're some pics of an e30 325i touring that caught my eye a few months back, it was going for £1495, or £900 with standard wheels:-

Here's the interior, you'd never guess what the original colour was

Sorry mate but apart from yourself no one else was talking about M50 conversions.

Satin/matt black on anything but a period hot rod (i.e '32 ford NOT 316!) looks very gay and sad and is the last resort of an attention seeker whose wallet can't stretch to candy apple red
Sounds just the sort of thing an owner of a mouse fur lined synthetic ccocoon would consider in his misguided quest for cred

Sorry 'mate' but we were. That's the whole sodding point of this thread! Beemerlad has an E30 into which he is fitting.............an M50 engine
and it states that where in this thread "mate" Show me your Rat look & matt black E30's
Beemerlad may well have an e30 into which he may well be fitting ........ a M50 engine but , and i can only apologise for being unaware of what everybody is intending to do with his/hers car, but thought the whole sodding point of this thread was a request for pictures of Rat look & matt black E30's not " do you think i should matt black or rat look my E30 which i intend to fit an M50 engine.
pacerpete, i bow to your superior knowledge of all things gay and misguided quests for cred

Don't do it! Some people's horizons may only extend to having a £500 scrapper, I know yours are a lot wider!E30BeemerLad wrote:Damn Peter, you've got me rumbled![]()

If it's a 'respect, innit' thing, think about where the 'respect' is going to come from. Not from grown adults, that's for sure.

Your car .your choice. Dont think you will lose or gain respect either way.
Personally wouldnt do it on my 86 cab, but my tourer is a different case and i certainly wont worry about any grown ups respect or lack of as long as its what i want and causes no harm. Plus ive got better things to spend my hard earned on other than a respray on an old turd, like building my house on Zante.

Another thread turns into a slanging match.......... Rat-look, Euro look, Hartge look, Schnitzer look, M50, S14, M10, 2door, 4door.... who cares, let's just enjoy the cars and quit being argumentative for the sake of it.

At £20 a sq/meter, that's a lot of land.gooner1 wrote:Seen my car then , Could just take the rubbish you sometimes spout, second thoughts ive only got 600 sq metres so would be overkill.

Plenty of goats for company too. Enjoy.
It's an E30, that's all that mattersSidewaysScouser wrote:Another thread turns into a slanging match.......... Rat-look, Euro look, Hartge look, Schnitzer look, M50, S14, M10, 2door, 4door.... who cares, let's just enjoy the cars and quit being argumentative for the sake of it.

Its simple, you dont matt black a car if your worrying about resale values, end of argument.
Surely a Mini peashooter exhaust was a bit far?pacerpete wrote:Nothing wrong with goats, if the real; thing ain't about , man must improvise.......
