ive got a pump that will cover part no's:

16 14 1 179 232
are these stand alone pumps as opposed to in tank pumps?? thanks. paul

All those numbers are too confusing for me!
Up to about 1988 E30s used a two pump system - a lift pump in the tank and a pressure pump in front of the LH rear wheel arch.
Sometime in 1988 these two pumps were replaced by a single in tank pump. This later pump is a direct physical replacement for the earlier pump, and I would recommend anyone having problems with an early set up to fit the later type, remove the wheelarch pump, link its in and out pipework together, and tie back and insulate its wiring.
