no munky wasnt there, had cash woes apparently. pity i wanted to meet him and see his matt black special......
im goin in jan, havent paid yet..... but will be......
and you CAN drift with an open diff, its just harder to maintain it.
mines open and im not welding it up, its a horrible thing to do to a car..... its like cable tieing your knees together and then trying to do star jumps......

i think 75 quid is very good, two full days near ruleless skidding about on an airfield, vertually no queing to go on the runs, nothing hard to hit when you fly off at breakneck speed, comedy type helpful peeps to talk to, people to laugh at when their cars break, top atmosphere, free camping, cheapish burger van all day, free beer (!!!!!!!!), marqee to chat to people in the evening, and the man that is drew.
what do you want for 75 quid???? ive spent more than that on a pair of jeans. :o: that is before i stopped giving a toss bout what i wear......... :D

It did cost more than the 1st one that Munky went to as that was £50 and this is £75. However this is the best value drift practice currently available in the uk and I believe it will remain to be for a long time.
With all due respects to the pod and the crew that run the drifting there it is not even comparable in terms of size and value for money.
Most drift days cost £50-£90 for a day on a piece of land big enough for 2nd-3rd gear drifting with limited actual time on track due to queing whilst waiting for others.
It is hard to explain the sheer size of Brawdy airfield but stood in the middle of one of the runways I couldnt see either end and it is wider than a full 6 lane motorway. There are numerous drift tracks set out and a 1/4 mile run and time trial course with literally acres of free smooth tarmac in between to practice your 4th and 5th gear drifting.

I have been to a few drift days and organise a regular one in Somerset (currently the cheapest one in England afaik at £20 a day and I still think TDW is better value) and I am fairly confident you wont find a location as good available anywhere now Donnington's drift central has been shut down.

I'm not bigging it up because its anything to do with me as its not, just feel that if anyone is seriously considering giving this a go they ought to know its well worth the trek.

Tailoutcharlie, dont worry too much about a lsd/welded diff. Lsd's are great on road cars, welders are great for drift cars but neither are essential for your first session of drifting. You will go sideways on a open diff and you will be able to hold it sideways, dont believe the hype lol.

Ouch - 560 round trip for me, and the thought of breaking her on the airfield would put dollar signs in any recovery persons eyes.

Hopfully something like this will happen nearer to home :(

Nothing on this scale will happen anywhere else. I'd be prepared to put a fiver on that.

Anyway the RAC brought me home from there. Not only did it not cost but it saved me about £20 in fuel (only went a little way to cover the cost of another gear box and diff)
