I'm pretty sure that was built by a company called " Vestatec " . I might still have a copy of the book it was in kicking about somewhere , called , wait for it - " DREAM CARS !!! "

Louvres are best left on Capri's & Marina Coupe's, that looks dreadfull,I mean,If it was in the early 80's where are the jacked up back wheels and polished JAG IRS?
Then it'd look cool!

Did I read somewhere that someone - possibly DeLorean himself - is going to resurrect it?

WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think they're cool!! The seventies and eighties were full of all sorts of crap mods to cars but at the time they were looked upon as different and kool. I look back on some of the things I wanted to do to a car when i was old enough to own one and think to myself 'you complete c**t!' - mk1 escorts with slot mags and capris jacked up at the rear with lourved rear window and bonnet scoops!! 8)

Back in the day, I worked for a company who supplied parts to the Dudes who were contracted to do the RHD conversions.
DeLorean dragged them down with him (in so far as they never got paid). :(
IIRC, they only ever did about 10 at the most.

I thought the DMC12 was cool too.
This is why I no longer drive an E30......

this is exactly what i was on about last night,

it doesnt matter what u think of the delorean because in the 80's it was acceptable.

i hate the delorean but take me back 15 years ago and i would think that car was bad boy!

It's a POS, it was meant to be a supercar, but couldn't reach the 88 mph claimed in Back to the Future, which face it,is the only reason you have fond memories of the shitter.

The wheels may fold underneath it while driving, you certainly won't be flying off to 1955

Went to see the DeLorean BTTF car which is in the 'Cars of the Stars' museum in Keswick, Lake District. http://www.carsofthestars.com/

The engineering on it was very shabby with rough edges and dodgy welds everywhere, and some of the technology used looked like old 60s telephone exchange parts! 8O

They also have KITT from Knight Rider and a number of other well know TV cars - Batmobile, General Lee, etc.

ChrisBarns wrote:I remeber this car from a book I had when I was a kid in the 80s. Had alsorts of "cutstomised" stuff. Mainly from German firms. Lots of digital dashes and three tier stereos. The Porsche 928 estate was cool though and the twin turbo Testerossas (Sp)!

If i'd paid what ever this cost I'd be a little put out about the panel fit.
Yer

Thats right, it was called "dream cars". I have this book(maybe worth money now.

Full of mad 80"s motors, 928 estates, Porsche engined golfs, Brabus mercs, Treser quattros, Koenig wide arch ferraris etc. Great book.

That magnum thing its a complete car. has a 3.5 in it as standard. Ugly as hell, and cost around 35k back in 1986(just had another read throught the book :) )

It's a Vestatec Magnum - as Jon says fitted with the S38B35 or the M30B35 lump. Also of note are the Porshe 924 front lights. 8)

Aluminium wheels... So they'll bend as soon as you put air in them!!

On the plus side, very light!
