It's all in place.

Next weekend we are putting the engine from a 50K e36 into the dead 318iS which snapped it's chain.

Still to swap the sump over but that's no problem. Got new gaskets etc ordered for that and for the manifold swap and other stuff needing done.

A new clutch is going in and a 4.45 diff is being fitted also. I know this diff will reduce top end, but the speed limit is only 70mph anyway winkeye and to get there quicker would be nice.

Will try and take pics as we do the job and take note of any problems we encounter. Should be straight forward enough though.

One thing I haven't been able to check is the fan or something. My mate isn't really "tech" minded so his description was a little vague and I haven't been round to look at both the engines, so may need to swap a pulley or so over. Thank goodness for impact wrenches !!!
Alfa 156 2litre 16v Sportpack. Angel remap, BMC CDA, CSC Zorst, Konis, Bilsteins and a stupid driver. Pushing 175bhp normally, 185bhp when I'm in the pub telling my mates.

Is it an m42 engine or a m44 / 1.9? from the e36.

Lots of IS's being sorted now!

Hail the 'iS'

Mine will be done within the next couple of weeks too...

I think it's a m44 from a e36 turd

The diff is from a 318i Auto.....which is why we are selling a 318i Auto with a noisy diff ;)

It's an M42 lump. Why make the job hard by fitting a different lump which'd need the ECU and all sorts of funky wiring alterations done...I presume !!!

My mates iS was running great when he bought it a couple of minths ago, but some of you will remember my post about the chain snapping. So the engine from e36 was easy to come by and also has a warranty.

Hope it all goes smoothly

Think I've posted a pic of it in the image lounge. Looks pretty good considering what my mate paid for it.

Hmmmmm was thinking yesterday, maybe we should organise an iS meet!?!?

There seems to be plenty on here now at various levels of modification and more and more seem to be getting sorted out now! 8)
