Water in footwells
Moderator: martauto
I recently took the door cards off my 318is (track car) and have noticed a bit of water gathering in the footwells, after its been raining, is this because the cards are off, and its spraying into the cabin, I take it, its suppose to drain out from the bottom of the door, Or is it not suppose to leak water at all lol
me three
mainly in drivers side. I even noticed a few drops around the underdash panel...
was meaning to post up a thread on the matter. any tips to quickly narrow down potential leaks, or common areas to check?

i have seen this before most of the time it is the seal around the windscreen that is leaking have a look at that.

its a tricky one, look for any splits or cracks, if uyou drop the bottom of the dash where the ecu is and check its not damp around there, if it is i would say it is your window seal.check for rust around the wind screen aswell.

yes they can mate, that is a common fault, water around there, it can cause the ecu 2 brake down.

I have the same problem, drivers footwell carpet gets very wet. I left a friend in the car during very heavy rain recently and he said it was coming in the bottom of the door. Had to check myself then. Bad door seals maybe?
Check the seal around the clutch cylinder where it goes thro the bulkhead.also steering column next to it
Drain tube right above them, found mine was peeing in here from the drain above it, need to pull carpet back if you can't see it from inside engine compartment.
I may be wrong but worth a look

If its passenger footwell then it may be a leaky heater valve.
Have you checked that your jacking points are solid, they can look ok but be rotten under them (the floor).
Also the 'plugs' in the floors of the footwells can rust, causing a leak.
