I can get about 350+ miles to a tank if I don't "push it"

350 is possible on a decent run, but the 1.8 does have a tendancy to need a push at times due to the smaller engine, which doesn't do well for the economy. Bigger engines have a bit more grunt making accelerating hard unnecessary on a normal trip.
Seems we're about even then...

Sometimes it's more gratifying if you know the car is a shed but the motor embarrasses all the tuned jap crap and some of the "exotics" from the German and Itallion stables

What you need is pulling power to make people go to the trouble of traveling longer than they would normally be prepaired to go.

If we had a separet section for tourings at the santa pod meet like they did last year then you've got some pulling power as it was a good meet last year, plenty of nice E30's(and other BMWs) to see and if you get bore of that then run your car down the strip or just spectate ?

Organizing a meet can be a pita because some one's always going to say.............

........i can't make that date......

........it's too far to travel........

What do you think ?

i think yor right for the reasons you mentioned, just liked the idea of a separate meet, without having any special events (like the pod) to have to pay for on top of petrol, theres not that many tourings on here so i cant see y it would be too difficult to find a date, if everyones got plenty of notice, lol. we'l have to see what happens, if it works, its all good, if not, it as all good, :D

Hear what your saying Andy
It's along the lines of Gordon(Alton Towers) and Whipsy with the Rockingham idea
if it's going to be an all day meet,we really need something more to keep everyone(wags/kids/dogs) entertained.

well all we need is a local carpark and a few tourings to fill it lol. the local plod are pretty chilled here, they only ever step in when knob of the night turns up (very rare occasion lately) in his chavbox and starts messin round, even if we cant get everyone here i think it could start a bit of a touring meet trend lol

I'll be up for a Touring meet.

Furthest Worth = Coventry-ish
Furthest East = Reading-ish (good indoor karting track)
Further South = Exeter-ish
Further West = Gower (S.Wales)

Hope this helps to narrow dwon the locations??

Last time (in 2003) we (the BMWCC) hired Rockingham raceway it cost us £8.5k :?

I assume you just mean meeting in the carpark outside... there is nothing else there! It's a windswept place, not ideal in my opinion...

From my experience, somewhere between 50 - 65% of the 'definites' will turn up to an event, and around 25% maybes will attend.

Re Santa Pod, again it's damn hard work trying to section off an area within an area if you get my drift. The E30zone will be allocated a pitch, then we have to section that off into various sub groups... then we have to guess how many people will actually turn up, then those who do turn up arrive / depart all at different times so it makes allocating space difficult. It also means someone has to marshal the areas all day (Funny how few zoners actually take up the challenge to help at these events too!!!)

I'd be up for a localish meet, but unless someone organises a 'proper event' i don't see many being drawn into a major meet.

I'm not here to piss on anyone's enthusiasm, but just speaking from a realistic view point.

Here is a challenge to prove me wrong!!!!!
1 & 2 bed flats in Bournemouth areas, with parking
